About 1/3 of people are no longer wearing them in shops and buses, and no-one can enforce it because Bodger said it was no longer the law to wear them in England.

But of course, in NI, Wales and Scotland their 1st ministers were more sensible.
Very few indeed wearing masks around here on trains inc into the capital, so several have told me.

Mum also have to travel there for specialist health care and she said lots not wearing on the tube even.

Will it now be enforceable (as of Sat eve) since Boris made the announcement?

(Barely anyone been wearing them in House of Commons - wonder if that will change?!)

What I have noticed is shops etc are not refilling the hand sanitizers, I went into TKMaxx yesterday both empty found a member of staff and said. They did refill quickly, but other shops just don't. Oh, and the number of people just walking into shops and not even bothering to use them and not wearing masks getting on the bus walking into shops.

I nipped into the Xmas Market yesterday, wanted to find my soap man, which I did. One way system in and out. Checked coming in must show a vaccine passport or proof of two vaccines, and they had lateral float tests to hand out but not allowed in until brought back two days later showing clear. I had my vaccine cards in a plastic holder which fits into my purse, showed plus the booster one and all fine let in no problem.

The compulsory mask wearing was never lifted here but I’m sorry to say many didn’t adhere to it and even worse the shops don’t enforce it.

i carry my own hand sanitizer as I dont like the heavy perfumed ones as shop doorways.

Ill admit to being a bit lax of late regarding social distancing, not that I go out much, but I will go back to being more strict .

I'm claustrophobic & find wearing one incredibly difficult so have a selection of cotton ones, some are quite light, & I can tolerate them for a short period of time. We're being boosted today & I can't decide which one to take, toss up between Moana & Day of the Dead. The ones I see worn are the awful blues ones from China, most are now brown, impetigo anyone?

I still wear a mask in shops but am in the minority and when I was on a couple of rail journeys a few weeks ago I was surprised at the number of people not wearing a mask even though requested to do so.People I know that have been abroad recently say that mask wearing is the norm, people just accept and get on with it.

To be honest, I don’t understand the people who ditched their masks as soon as Boris said we could. I know people don’t like them but it’s a small price to pay for being as safe as possible. I know we were told to make up our own minds about it but, while this pandemic is raging round the world, I will continue to wear one. As Silver Fox said, other people round the world just get on with it. Maybe this country is full of whingers. 😳

Similarly, and this will possibly be controversial, I don’t understand why people are refusing to have the jabs and booster, unless they are medically exempt. The “anti-vaxxers“ have a lot to answer for.

NI has the highest infection rate of the UK nations. Many European countries insisted on mask wearing when we didn't & look what's happened to them, Sweden on the other hand is doing well & those who put that down to the size of the population in relation to the amount of land ignore the density figures in the cities. There isn't a country that's handled this debacle successfully, hardly surprising considering it was a new virus two years ago, however, the majority of the scare tactics used by our government & the SAGE advisers have now seen as just that with many being lies to ensure complicity. I'm sick of the politicians & boffins talking to me as though I'm a child & would have some respect for them if they said that they told us to be ultra careful at first but now know that many of the safeguards were OTT; including the oft quoted fact that the virus lasts on surfaces for weeks, therefore keeping your post in the garage for a fortnight is daft but that holding onto to escalator hand rails is a good idea as long as you wash your hands afterwards because even though covid wasn't found traces of E. coli & cocaine were! Last week Whitty questioned whether "we could take people with us" if restrictions were put in place, he actually knows the answer's "No". Mandatory mask wearing in crowded places is one thing but there's no way they can police people gathering together in their homes over what will be a double bank holiday Christmas.
