I bought a T3 hairdryer in TKMaxx the compact one which rrp for £125 I got it I think it was £50 or just over than? Well, it was like that less than half price. Oh, and its pale lilac😘 Now I have never ever paid anything like that for a hairdryer and would never ever pay the rrp for it. Great little hairdryer all done in a few minutes no flyaway. I remember standing in TKMaxx and thinking should I or not as for me that was over the top price at less than half price? I knew the brand got amazing reviews and well thought of but it was holy crap £50+ for a hairdryer.

Now give me something I really have a thing for perfume (no I would pay £300+ for perfume. I once sniff a gorgeous perfume at £200 but for me, no way was it worth that price!), and I will jump. A friend loves Mulberry handbags buys them in the sales and will say I got this for 70% off at £300 which she thinks is a great deal. That is her thing and she is happy paying for it. If you want to buy the all singing all dancing hair styler and are happy with it no one will judge you. But, please never get into debt for it.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there....as in there are certain things that different people are prepared to splash out on..Mine is sunglasses...I mean I wouldn't spend crazy money on them simply because I have a tendency to lose them or damage them. I had a crazy expensive Gucci pair that I actually found in the street some years ago...when I checked them out online they wouldn't cost a few hundred pounds...ok, they could've been fakes but I don't think they were, and they were amazing...few months down the line I lost them myself d'oh!..but nowadays I'm happy to spend in excess of £100 on a pair..but I'm a lot more careful with them. My friend will spend £300+ on a handbag, and she's always looking to buy a new one..she buys her sunglasses in Primark and Poundland...she thinks I'm mad, and I think she's mad...so I suppose when you look at it a top notch hairdryer/styler's probably not as crazy as it sounds...At least it's something you'll only have to buy once!

My indulgence is buying packs of tarot and oracle cards most of which I look at once and put in a box and never use.
I have spent £100 on a single deck and when you think about it they are only rectangles of cardboard with a picture on.
But having said that I have sets that I've bought for £5 that are selling for £200 on Amazon!
Most of my face care stuff is from Aldi, shoes from Primark and clothes handbags etc are charity shop finds

😂😂 love the new forum Layout Graham .... hilarious Andik lol

Yes, I did. found out the 3 was too short but as I had the one side started had to do the other side with 3. Then did the back with the 6 which I should have used first, it felt so light with the mass of hair gone. Then yesterday I did the top with 9 which is shorter than I imagined. A friend I visited this morning(of course social distancing sitting outside and sitting on chairs), said it was brilliant and I should do it myself in future. By the time the hairdressers open is will have grown a good bit. I can feel a few long hairs at the nape of my neck which I cannot get at to just snip off.

If this virus and lockdown has taught me anything it’s to stop buying junk on a whim which I’ll never use.

Instead, I will save my money and spend it on something I really want - a luxury hopefully.

Off topic (well, not quite). My hairdresser texted me on Fri to say the salon is opening on 5/7 and she has pencilled me in for an appointment on 10 July. I confirmed it then and there ! It’s still weeks ahead but I can cope with silver roots and the odd dab of root colour powder.

I received my hairdryer yesterday so am now ready to put it through its paces.I have wanted to try for a while as my hairdresser recommended it except for the price.I will return if any doubts. The p&p was free so for the cost of return I can see if it is worth it or not.

I’ve been tempted, my hairdresser uses one for her own hair (at home) and loves it.

First use and I think it is a keeper! I have always had very short hair which I have loved but as age has advanced would have liked a bit longer and softer.Without the lockdown I would have been at least twice to the hairdressers for my cut back.I have used the diffuser to encourage my curl and then the smoothing where needed. The dryer is super fast, the attachments easy to change. The controls are a bit fiddly on the inside, but will get used to those. My hair has volume & lightness, will that last? With cutting and correct shaping I think I will have a new approach.Still early days so will see but the money I have saved on hairdressing over the past months could go towards the Dyson!

My hair sounds similar to yours. What I need is a gadget that styles my hair so well that it stays in place, or at least looking decent, all day. Usually if the air is less than bone dry my hair frizzes up within minutes of stepping outside 🙄.

Have you tried the Wow Dream Coat for curly hair? Item number 239135. It’s quite pricey at £49 for 500ml. It does have mixed reviews but I’ve used the “ordinary” Dream Coat and it’s not bad. My hair is long, with a slight wave, but if it gets wet the waves get bigger which I don’t like. The Dream Coat has helped a little.

I haven’t but I’ll go and check reviews - QVC and elsewhere if I can find any. Thanks for the suggestion.

Now I am sure this is of National interest in these trying times!—-but here we go, on this TSV day I decided to try the Dyson Hairdryer as had been looking at it for ages and with lockdown hair that would test it.It was free P&P and 4 EZP so ‘only’ had to lay out the first payment. It is a super hairdryer and very fast drying even though I found it quite hot on the lowest setting.I liked the cool button too.I am returning because it is simply not worth that cost to me.Perhaps if you had loads of long thick hair? This morning I have switched back to my cheapo very old travel dryer & my hair is just as good if not better! So at least QVC’s returns policy has worked for me this time, the return cost will be eye watering but I have satisfied my curiosity.

£19.40 plus the humiliation of having to say it is a hairdryer which has to be insured for £300, as I said to the cashier ‘ it didn’t work for me’, he did not disagree. So am sure it will now be in it’s own van with escort heading for M6 & M62, should be back in Knowsley in about well under 2 hours. We shall see when Q record return!

What you had to pay £19.40 to return it? If so, that's a bit ****** steep! or have I got the wrong end of the stick..suppose that's better than shelling out a few hundred quid on something that will end up annoying you because you know it's not actually worth the money. I think Q's 30 day mbg is a really good thing thing though and I guess they're not gonna let you return it for free. I think there are times where you've just got to cut your losses. I paid well over the odds for some make up once and it was so disappointing that I had to return it. I ended up about a tenner out of pocket but I knew I'd never use it so I decided I was better off cutting my losses and getting a bit back rather than have a white elephant sitting in my house!

Thought it would be about £12 but that is the cost for trying something I was interested in then made an informed decision that it was not worth it for me.The worst bit was almost having to justify myself in the PO!

Yes and you have actually done us all a great service in illustrating that you don't need to pay mega bucks for a decent product...the fact that your cheapo travel hairdryer does just as good a job says it all. We're all curious to try these luxury brands. My rule of thumb now is to check out all the one star reviews because they say more about a product than the 5 star ones, even if the low reviews are far fewer. On a cheap or mid range item then I'm prepared to chance it...but when a £300 hair dryer has a handful of people saying that "it's good....but no better than my £20 BaByliss one - I think, yeah maybe not then!

The post office will tell you it depends on the price of the item in the parcel as you will only be insured for £50 max if you go for the cheap return price. So to cover yourself in case it goes walkabout and QVC insist you pay for the hairdryer.

Exactly nearly £20 to find I do not pay £300 but some would not consider being curious enough to pay that anyway.Just shows how different we all are!
