I’m starting to wonder about that meteorite. Must’ve been about the size of Mars, there’s so much of it. Or Uranus?

Look how the central dials are squashed together into the centre of that manhole cover of a watch face, along with the date. To me, it’s an indication of a tiny mechanism, dropped into an oversized case- no doubt space filled with a cheap plastic positioning ring. Then look at the sub-dials...

Absolutely spot-on. a couple of years back, ResultCo (who were the suppliers of many of the IW brands) used to have a section on their corporate website (NOT the websites for each watch brand- they were separate) that perfectly explained their philosophy. The essence of it was that they quote...

That’s an image that will take a long time to fade from my mind….

It’s been for sale as new with tags on eBay as well. I had it on my watchlist (it was £670) to see if it reduced. Someone (eBay seller) called ‘watch girl’. It didn't sell in the month I had it on the list. Either it’s deeply unpopular, or that 50 seems to have gone a LONG way…

I always thought Ideal World were hinting at the watchmaker who put together such a timepiece. Not Abraham Breguet and his tourbillon. Oh no. It’s Yorkshire’s finest T’ Our Billy for them. I think I’ve been watching their rubbish too long! :)

I always thought they’d eventually sell tourbillons, ever since I read that it was French for a whirlwind. After all, who but Ideal World presenters could be better suited to offering us a load of hot air, endlessly going round and round without ever going anywhere…? But seriously, it shows how...

I know this isn’t properly a fit to IW, but did anyone watch ‘The Apprentice’ selly telly edition last week? It was hosted on TJC and there was a guy offering the contestants advice on how to cope. I thought all the way through that I recognised his voice but I couldn’t recognise him. Having...

As Hammy said, with IW it’s so often ‘Swiss Parts’ rather than ‘Swiss Made’. Basically, ‘Swiss Parts’ means the Chinese assembler was eating a Toblerone when putting it together.

Until about a year ago, IW had a dreadful TrustPilot rating. Literally, they classified IW as ‘bad’. Almost every rating was a 1*. Suddenly the site was flooded with very short 5 star reviews. It’s clear that someone at IW was given the task of improving the scores, but the question is how those...

Peter Simon (as always) has his own weird version of that. He constantly says ‘good luck if you get it’. Now I wonder if there’s a bit of the old subconscious at play, there. If the watch/ treadmill/ drone/ worry angel (oops - not sure how THAT got there) was any good, why exactly would you...

Peter Simon has a Rolex as well. I’ve never been quite able to see if it’s a real one, or one of those I used to get pushed at me every time we went into Lucky Plaza when we lived in Singapore. They were some fakes- the gold used to wear off on your wrist, leaving a green band that looked like...

IW seem to think that this, indefinable, Swiss ‘heritage’ will ensure a good watch. On that basis, we should soon be seeing the Toblerone watch company. Or Gouda Timepieces inc. No experience of watchmaking at tall, but all that Swiss heritage. I can imagine Peter Simon’s unrestrained excitement...

I think they really mean they should've been with Basil. The only debate is whether Basil Brush or Basil Fawlty. Fawlty, I guess, given how many of the watches they show are exactly that - faulty!!

It’s one of the things I just don’t get about IW. On the one hand, their presenters like to suggest the channel is a kind of community, with ‘regulars’ and ‘collectors’, and Peter S giving regular ‘shout outs’ to certain names (real or imaginary). On the other hand, they have sales that are more...

Yes - happy Christmas to all. We may be laughing at the presenters, rather than with them. But at least we’re laughing! Hope 2022 is a bit better for us all.

Oh no. Don’t say that- please! Demo bikes for sale? They might be ones that Peter has been riding. I do hope they’ve been steam cleaned. One e-bike for sale, light stains only…. 🤮

I’ll never forget her demo-ing one of the many miraculous cooking appliances that selly telly of all varieties seem to specialise in. I think it was QVC back in the 90’s, but it might’ve been early IW, in the days of Lavers, Watters and Flint - just before the fire that mysteriously destroyed...
