    Brash TV

Andy Hodgson managed it. Sure, it's not easy or simple. But I look forward to it. I wish her the best of luck. It has the potential to be fun and interactive, and isn't that why we liked the old bid and Price-Drop?

It's Christmas Day 2013 and your other half buys you a special present....

You could be printing money. Administration means it won't be sold piecemeal, they'll want to sell Sit-Up as a whole, which means it'll be sold well, well below what the assets are worth, and they have some extremely valuable assets (Freeview/Sky slots, three broadcast quality studios and...

why did Bid go bust... just look at this:

I can't blame the presenters for being shocked, I don't think they're lying or putting on a brave face, I would believe that they're genuinely surprised. After all, most people don't look at the financial records of their employers, and like most of Sit-Up's employees, they just knew that most...

could a bidding format tv shopping channel still work?

Anything is possible, really. QVC has continued to grow year on year with no signs of stopping, Ideal World as a business is as healthy as it's ever been and often forgotten Gems TV isn't just one of the fastest growing TV broadcasters, but the fastest growing private companies in all of the UK...

    Random musings/no argument zone

A broken 24 hour clock would still be correct once every day of the week and a broken 12 hour clock will still be correct twice on Sundays.

Worry Angels: symbolic of what was shambolic about Bid/Pricedrop

I didn't watch Bid or Price Drop for the longest time; I only started watching after discovering this forum. When I read people joking about "worry angels", I thought it was just that, a joke. I assumed people were massively exaggerating. I assumed it might have been some plastic garden...

    All new Price Drop

Fair play to Sit-Up. They seem to slowly but surely removing the dodgy tactics. First with Shop At Bid. They removed the artificially limited stock and aren't rushing customers and pressuring them to buy immediately now they've removed their clocks. Bid also removed their ludicious £1.58 just...

    And they're saved!

I'm happy for the employees, the vast majority of which would obviously not have been responsible for the debt, but selfishly, also happy that my dumb guilty pleasure isn't going (yet). They've made a few first steps at improving already. No pressure selling with artificially slow stock or...

    Bid Vimeo channel

Amazing find! I love this kind of broadcasting stuff.

Price drop now gone , now "Best of Bid"

I think it's live. During Davis' introduction, it sounded like someone knocked something down. That or they couldn't be arsed re-recording. The boom demo has the trademark Sit-Up "waiting awkwardly for the camera to move into the right place" too; I would assume they would have bothered to edit...

Price drop now gone , now "Best of Bid"

Well, that was a surprise. Flicked over to Price Drop just now, and saw Simon Davis' introduction. I was thinking it was a new segment, but then he went on saying it's a whole new channel. Seems like their broadcasting hours are cut too, if that's the case, he said it'd be from 6pm onwards...

    Thoughts/Opinions on Bid rebrand

Makes me wonder whether they'll stop selling their airtime from 2am to 8am. The potential money they could make from pre-recorded show must be more then just selling the time for another company to do the same.

    Thoughts/Opinions on Bid rebrand

They opened up talking a lot about having brand names. Bid are usually full of ****, but they don't tend to claim that they're full of brands. Maybe we'll be seeing a change of products for the better over the next couple of weeks?

    Thoughts/Opinions on Bid rebrand

Can't imagine them planning to shut down Bid in the near future after paying for a rebrand. I would be surprised if Price Drop doesn't get the cutting block though (would explain the presenter exodus if they know the writing on the wall).

    Thoughts/Opinions on Bid rebrand

Logo looks naff and the on-screen graphics are definitely less slick then they were, but the small changes they made to their studio (the calmer blue lights instead of the bright orange) look much better. Credit where due, although they've lost their USP and the format is more traditional, it...

    thoughts.....

Amazon Prime requires a £80 yearly subscription for the next day delivery, so it's not really a fair comparison.

    thoughts.....

The logo doesn't half look shite, but the blue colour scheme of the studio looks a lot more professional. Seems they got rid of their whole USP (the falling price), but hey, 20p phone calls, that's most definitely a welcome change. The P&P hasn't though, £8 on their first item (the Tefal). I...

New Owner at Sit-Up after record losses

The Freeview spectrum they're sitting on is literally gold (not plated). Anyone with 5 minutes to spare looking into it will conclude that Sit Up only existed this long because they bought TV slots when Freeview was "OnDigital". People predicted OnDigital/ITV Digital would tank, and they were...
