Another change - not for the better!

I've had the same experience, so I just stopped buying. They really expect you to knowingly pay more than the 'auction price' if you want an item outside of its auction window. Yeah, I want it so much, I'll pay an extra £100+ more than everyone else because I called you three hours after the...

    Gemporia still sinking

That will be a real loss to the channel. His pieces are very artistic and unique. They are selling way too much artless, cheap tat for them not to have standout pieces bringing interest to the channel. I have quite a few Lehrer pieces and enjoy them all. Does he want to part ways with them...

    YouBamboo

I have to say, I do really rate the bedding. We use YouBamboo in the spring/summer/autumn, and Cozee Home from QVC for the colder parts of the year (their Velvetsoft sets are just delicious to get into when it's cold -- no sheet shock, nice and toasty). If those are now the prices for the...

    Gemporia still sinking

That's really concerning. The Type A isn't cheap, and you'd think Gemporia would be testing their hauls independently before certifying them as Type A. The reviewer there spent a lot of money to find out it's not Type A. I'd be mortified to own a lot of Type B if I spent a bucket on Type A, so...

I used to love Gems TV

I'm a little heartened to see them offering pledges again. I haven't bought for a while as I lost any incentive when they started refusing pledges as a matter of course. Perhaps it's sunk in that loyal customers don't like the change in policy.

    Gemporia - struggling financially?

Agreed, 2g should be the minimum. I've seen bands as light as 1.3g, which is utterly ridiculous. Anything in gold tone has to be pretty much worthless as it's reserved for costume jewellery made to turn you green.

    Dave the jadeite man

Lindsey's innocent and ear-splittingly high-pitched squeakiness is grating and is meant to mimic the excitedness of a young child, but is less annoying than Foley's shouty grunts. The genetic fusion of both of them would produce "I've got to let you know, a dream come true is flying out the...

Rachel on air now saying they could sell a barely "lavender" and green jadeite bead necklace for £16,000, "legitimately." Yours for £199, of course. That's exceedingly generous of them.

    Gemporia - struggling financially?

I have some sympathy with the gold weights. As the price of gold goes up, they can charge more for pieces or reduce gold weight to maintain profits. Their target market might be priced out somewhat by keeping the gold weights chunky and raising prices as each gram of gold is about £50 retail...

    Dave the jadeite man

What I like about TJC is that if an item doesn't sell, their frustration can be quite evident. Sometimes a design isn't popular and they grudgingly move on. With Gemporia, they could be selling a silver pendant in the shape of a dog turd and it would be "flying out of the front door" because...

People can cancel before midnight, but it doesn't make sense for there to be stock allocated to a replay that the company wouldn't simply rather sell out. And pieces said to be nearly sold out that have double digit quantities means a lot of cancellations same day. It's possible that the stock...

Something that confuses me is the "we're only taking confirmations" line. If I add something to my basket and don't check it out, the stock level doesn't go down. I can take it out and put it back in and the counter still shows the same number. Something else to watch out for is that I'm seeing...

    Gemporia - struggling financially?

Someone better at reading these reports can clarify, but it looks to me as though the company is still in profit, but at a rate of 1/3rd the previous year, which was exaggerated anyway owing to more people being at home). However, it's still a big dip over 2020. The company blames inflation...

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

Their business model seems to require that a proportion of their viewership make repeat purchases. However, you can't make people pay different prices all the time without making it right and keep your regular customers happy. It's deadly to brand loyalty, raises their return rate, and will...

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

I don't find Hattie that shouty and I agree she comes across more genuine. But if the louder and pushier presenters sell more than the more reserved and professional ones such as Jeff who could sell pieces without theatrics then the viewing public have got what they asked for. If sincerity...

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

These replies are really interesting and varied. Loss of trust is the main gist, then: 1. Loss of trust in the company's claims by using dodgy sales tactics that rely on implied 'legacy' value. 2. Loss of trust in the company's judgement in who they chose as the faces of the brand when people...

    If Gemporia wants to survive...

I'm not sure what it means. Perhaps the change in leadership has slowed things down. It doesn't always mean they're in financial trouble, but it's not a good sign for suppliers...

    Gemporia's Biggest Problem

If you could only pick one..... What is the single most important reason you have either stopped shopping with Gemporia or now buy less from them? It can be for a personal reason like having less money and not because Gemporia have done anything you dislike.

    If Gemporia wants to survive...

The Lehrer cuts are beautiful, but the cheaper items are not cut by Lehrer himself. No disparagement intended to Lehrer and his amazing creations, I am just not sure his pieces have investment potential if not cut by him. Gemporia does sell stones he has cut from time to time, but they are much...
