    Customers!!!!!

Years ago I used to work in a supermarket dealing with relatively awkward people at times. I'm sure its where I developed my passive aggressive streak ;-)

    Fed Up - Advice please!!!

Vax's are pretty good so far in my limited experience with them. Can't fault Henry's though they're a bit of a lump to move around and guaranteed to break anything in its path. If it can't it will go over it ;-) BTW, VAX are doing a sale on a few products till Monday 8th Sept 5pm. Its...

    Tipping etiquette

Being male, I do tip my barber but then again the price they charge is cheap so I always give more. But normally I hate giving tips as I believe its no longer necessary in these days of minimum wage. Definitely don't tip if there's a service charge and as above, I'm of the opinion that you've...

    Strictly is nearly here!

Looking at the celeb lineup, I'm guessing its a series they're saving money on at the BBC. Usual selection of breakfast TV presenters and popstars seeking a comeback/flagging career/older generation and the token oversized celeb. On the other hand, it might be good as there isn't many big name...

    Air or Mini?

Neither if your main use is videos. Might as well get a cheap tablet for that purpose along the lines of the Amazon Kindle Fire. Yes, the display will be better with more ppi.

I'm actually surprised of the quality of this years contestants at this stage.

    My Horrible Boss

Try the cynical passive aggressive approach. As above keep records of the behaviour but if you get an opportunity, recommend to the MD that said boss goes on a course to improve her people skills. Lets just say that its a pretty effective way of humiliating a manager's ego and might even make...

    I Pads ?

I was reading an article about this type of thing quite a while back. Think it was on The Register but the author pointed out that it was a very narrow view of IT that the school board/governors were going down the route of iPads in education. It was noted that the closed system i.e. support and...

    Strictly Come Dancing 2013

Hmmm, just watching the One show with the contenders. Nobody too spectacular celebrity wise this year and Mark Benton the obvious comic entry. Could be an interesting series this time. BTW, Vanessa Feltz is incredibly competitive so she will be going for it. The full list...

    Extending my WIFI siginal

How old is the TT router? Our one is a Dlink DLS240R or something which only has "g" speeds and a good 4/5 years old. You could be better served by changing it to one with a "n" rating. Bear in mind your end device needs to be capable of the "n" speeds otherwise you're not gaining anything...

    What nationality?

And a Scot when he loses  I'm part Scottish part Welsh and half of two other countries myself but I'm British because that's what the passport says and I've been around British people all my life from various backgrounds who have assimilated into the British way of life. I never call...

    HP Touchscreen Laptop TSV 29/06/13

Lack of an optical drive is going to be a feature in the next few years. Because of the increase in broadband speed, its cheaper to have it on a remote server and you stream the film to your laptop over wifi. I barely use mine these days as external storage is cheaper and faster (USB drives are...

    Praise for Ideal World?

Agree, the last few orders I've had from IW have definitely been dispatched and arrived far faster than when I first started a couple of years ago. Just recently, a courier returned an order due to it being damaged on delivery (the couriers decision so I had no input). IW refunded the order...

Don't worry, once he's had enough of the halogen oven, the TomTom's and everything else on repeat just push over to Create and Craft :sun:

Poor Wi-fi internet signal at home.

Might actually be the router. What you need to check if the router channel is set to something like 12 or below. There are some wireless cards that don't work at channel 13/14 due to the American FCC restrictions which aren't present in Europe. I learnt the hard way that setting my router to...

    MP3 Player-iPod Query!

Think this is a question for SCW! Reminding me of the legendary "Two ipods one pc" thread of a few years ago.... I think you can import them or you have to convert wma files to mp3. All managed through itunes though.

    iphone yes or no?

BTW, if you're on o2 and about to complete your contract soon you might be interested in the Refresh contract where basically you can pay for the phone over 2 years or sooner if you like, for zero interest.

    Lenovo TSV 13/4/13

He's actually right about the i5 not being available elsewhere. I had a look and it seems to be a new release. The i7 version is the more powerful CPU and the i5 is apparently quite a good version though of a lesser ability in comparison. Most people wouldn't notice in day to day things...

    iphone yes or no?

I think there is an auto lock to the network sim when you insert it so be prepared for a bit of bill-shock as it uses the foreign data charged at extortionate rates. I've also heard of several problems of people trying to activate an iPhone whilst abroad over on the o2 forums. Also does the...

    Lenovo TSV 13/4/13

Ahem, if the current price is just short of £1000 over at Currys/PC World for the i7 model, expect the i5 version to be a couple of hundred cheaper so I'd be expecting around the £700 mark. That is excluding anything QVC throw in for it.
