had a read today, seems rocks chat is back to its old cliquey self. guess steve and co haven't found a solution after all.

gemdreamer, I'm really sorry that you found the chat to be cliquey today, I was in there myself. Yes there were a lot of familiar faces and, at times, there were lots of different conversations going on at once, with chat moving very quickly, so perhaps some chat was missed. Please do come in and say hi - you will be warmly welcomed; it is never anyone's intention to alienate people - in fact, the more the merrier!

Best wishes,
Eunice

Hi Lucky Duck, You and Fluff were very helpful to me when I briefly popped in on a tanzy hunt! Saved me a few pennies lol. I'm hardly ever in chat. When I do it's usually to request an item. I must say I'm always acknowledged by one or two lovely peeps and never feel like I'm intruding. :1:

lol - felt a bit guilty about that!!! Still, I could only tell the truth!! :8:

I'm glad you came in & hope to see you again soon, although to be honest, I'm not in myself too often. For obvious reasons, I try not to log into Rocks - too dangerous :)

Really pleased I could help a little bit, petpixie.

I have 3 rings (including the tanzy one
Smileywink-1.gif
) and a bangle coming tomorrow so I'm obviously in there far too much!

Who is this Clique? you keep refering to!!?

Hi gemdreamer:1: thanks for your post and opinion...

I came back to rocks chat today after almost a week of absence...
I especially came back to help get the chat back to a friendly atmosphere again, and I did this to help everyone.
I welcomed everyone as Ive always done, and did my best with measurements and sizes for those with no sound...
but never once did I witness anyone being "cliquey" today as you have said.

I havn't a clue who you are talking about... I only saw a lot of regular people and also some new people enjoying the friendly chat, and ive been there since 1pm today and still there now, unless you mean me and the regular chatters!!!? as there's no one else left to mean only new people.

I don't want to appear offensive, but at least have the decency to be honest and say who you mean! (as I for one am not in anyone's clique as you put it)

I thought the chat was very pleasant to be in today! 100% better than of late, I dont see anyone else trying to help ease the tensions and bringing all the chatters back together..

As Ive already said this is not meant to be offensive! if you are offended I apologise, but Im fed up of the chat being called a clique, it's a chat room for goodness sake, and if you see the same names all the time thats because they are regular daily chatters, and not a "clique" :11:

Mirabelle.

Thank you for your opinion Mirabelle, and no i am not offended. But that is YOUR opinion, it isn't up to you to tell people what to think, and whilst you may not feel it is cliquey on rockstv chat, others do. You didn't think anything was wrong before, but clearly others did as steve etc changed format. I understand you got upset and there was a tiny bit of toy throwing going on (no offense meant) when the chat was changed, and are happier now, which is great. But as has been said befoe, you truly can't please everyone all the time, and the chat going back to the old format you wanted/liked, is obviously not going to please the people who didn't like it to begin with.
All that being said, i truly am happy you are happier with rocks tv, and didn't decide to stand by your previous statement that you wouldn't go back there with 2 chat rooms, as it does seem important to you, where as i only pop on and read the chat now and then. I am sorry we don't share the same opinion and i hope that doesn't cause any bad feeling. :)

I know what you meant nanpam...:1:

Re the magazine pulling the article...I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm willing to e-mail the Editor of that mag - through Rocks if necessary - to apologise for the unfortunate topic of conversation, point out that Rocks is such a friendly site that people feel they can talk about anything, even if that isn't always wise, that I'm writing off my own bat out of loyalty to Rocks, and ask them on behalf of Rocks' customers, to please reconsider pubishing the article...

Would anyone else be willing to do that - assuming of course that Rocks would let us?

That's a lovely thought and well intentioned but just think how it might be received. The magazine may well wonder how Rocks customers know that they've pulled publishing the article? They might assume (wrongly) that Rocks were asking customers to pressurise the company to change their decision. It wouldn't matter how you positioned your note to them, the fact remains that they wouldn't (probably) be happy being put in a position of having to justify their actions. Also, if you google Rocks and Chat I'm fairly sure you'd get to this and maybe other forums. A quick look at just this thread may not be what you would want them to see either and there are wildly differing opinions.

This is probably left well alone. I'm sure that Steve/John and the team did their best to rescue the situation.

Hi gemdreamer,:19: ofcourse there's no bad feeling as you say we all have our opinions, but you skirted around the question I put to you..
who is this "clique" you keep refering to?

I stood my stance for a week to see if there would be any changes
and once I had got an email from Katherine this morning explaining that we can chat as normally as possible and interact with the presenters as we have done before in chat room, but any in depth discussions on "what's for tea" and "Health issues" be discussed over in chit room, she also told me that the poofing arrows had been removed...hence I went back to try to help bring everyone together..and everyone seemed ok!.was I wrong to try to do that!?

Re your comment.. as for not seeing anything wrong before...
I hastened to add oh! yes I did it was becoming a nasty vicious bullies and perverts playground, and my main reason for my abstinance from the website the two chat/chit rooms just happened to be the tip over the edge.
as you stated you are not that bothered about the chat and only read it, so I don't understand your concerns over it and see the need to call it a clique if you dont partake in it, if reading it offends anyone at all in anyway then they have the option to turn off the chat..this button has always been there.
Ive been a Rocks customer from the begining at the launch on there first weekend in July 08, and have always enjoyed my time there till of late.
So I hope any further incidents are nipped in the bud sooner rather than later, good luck to the Bennetts:41:

Hmm...I hadn't thought of that aspect tbh...you're probably right Meeshoo...

I truly didn't sit there writing down peoples names mirabelle, and i am sure nobody meant it to seem clique like so i am not going to start saying it was .... and .... just because you want me to. I have as much right to have an opinion about the chat as you do, regardless of how long i have been a customer or whether i chat frequently or not. I personally like reading the chat because if i am watching rocks tv, the presenters talk alot about whats been said in chat, so without the chat on, you can loose what the presenter means. I must say, i actually feel unhappy about having to explain myself to you. surely, whether i choose to read chat, or turn it off is my choice.
I haven't actually felt comfortable joining in chat, as i personally have felt it was cliquey. I haven't gone on rocks chat or here shouting about it, i simply haven't bothered with rockstv much as chat wasn't a plus for me personally, and one of the presenters i find very annoying, these reasons have made rocks tv less appealing to me. I understand that the chat is an important outlet to some people, and i am happy for them, but i can't help it if i see the chat room differently, from the outside so to speak.
I truly don't want an arguement Mirabelle, I simply don't agree with you, no bad feelings at all. :)

I just give up!!!!!!!!!

Hi Gemdreamer:1: thanks again for your post and opinion..
We have both said our bit, and i didn't ask for an explaination from you...
I simply asked a question of you (who was this clique) big difference in asking you to explain yourself and asking a question..

So now I give up...no chat or forum are worth the hassles anymore...
either here on rocks.

There will always be people who chat more than others and I suppose this could sometimes be perceived as them being in a clique. I always receive a lovely welcome even though I don't join in a lot ... I usually have one eye on the jewellery, one eye on the Chat and one on the clock!

For me Chat works best when it's mainly about the jewellery/gemstones combined with some lighthearted banter between ourselves and with the presenters. I think Emma does it brilliantly .. she presents the pieces in a calm, relaxed manner, she is informative about the gems but always keeps a check on the chat to answer any questions and join in where appropriate with a good sense of humour.

A few weeks ago Chat read more like an agony aunt column in a magazine and I found it accutely embarrassing that people were discussing very personal and private matters on a public forum; it was probably about the time when the article in the magazine was pulled. I don't wish to offend or upset anyone but, in my opinion, that kind of discussion has no place on a site that was set up to sell and discuss beautiful peces of jewellery.

In the last few days there seems to be a lighter atmosphere in the main room again and, despite my reservations, the ChitChat room seems to be working well too so maybe Steve's post was the wake-up call we all needed.

Anyway I'm prepared to be shot down in flames by people who disagree with me but meanwhile I've got a bag of goodies to open!

PS Don't give up Mirabelle .. you are one of the most welcoming and helpful people in the Chatroom.

I haven't been on Shopping Telly for months and months. However, reading the last few postings I felt I wanted to add a little piece myself.
I watch Rockstv when I'm at work (shouldn't admit it here, buy hey-ho!!). Sometimes I slip into chat and sometimes I just read it. HOWEVER, when I'm sitting here reading the chat, it CAN APPEAR to be cliquey, because there are very often the same people in there. HOWEVER, if anyone cares to join in they are ALWAYS welcomed and included in what is going on - IF they feel they want to join in.
I really don't think it is cliquey - which I feel implies that other (outsiders) are excluded from the conversation. Everyone who wants to join in can, and is willingly accepted. If people wish to stay out of the conversation then that is up to them and, IMHO, they have no right to call chat cliquey - without trying it for themselves.
There, said it!!!
Sorry to anyone I have offended, but as has already been said - we are all entitled to our own opinions.

oh dear did not realise this was all happening, bit slow on the uptake. Mirabelle you are a lovely person and you really are a help on the chat and I for one would miss you. I pop in and out and often just read the chat and do not join in. I do like the chat feature always have, it made the whole thing feel like a club atmosphere and we all got to know each other and became friends on there. its such a shame that an element have spoilt it for us and also for the Rocks team. I would hate to see it go and am glad they have given us the chit chat facility to natter a way on. I love to see familiar names M4G, Gemlover,Daz , and many more and say hi to them and have a giggle whilst waiting for the next item to come on screen. I enjoyed coming to Rocks studio and having chatted on the website it was like meeting people I already knew. A moderator on the chat rooms would be a good thing and it may weed out the few that spoil it for everyone else.
As for the magazine article that was so unfair, the Prices alone of the goods make it worthy of an article in a Mag,they show stuff in them that is not real and well overpriced whilst Rocks offer quality, good service and genuine gems for the same and sometimes less, and whether they know it or not we customers that buy from you at rocks are the same ones that buy there magazines. I do hope they give you a second chance Steve and you get your well deserved article. Long live Rocks,Chat, and all the lovely people that I feel are my friends on there. xxxx:ANYWORD:

The word 'clique' to me always implies that others are not welcome, which I have never felt was the case on Rocks. I haven't personally witnessed it, rather the opposite, that 'hello and well done' were always directed at any new members, as well as regulars. If anyone wants to join in with the chat they were welcomed, any questions or queries answered, and reassurance given that everything was 'on the up'. I'm sorry if people have felt that this constitues cliqueyness, but you can't force people to join in if they don't want to.

:doggie:

Diamondgirl you have just said everything that i would of said I totally agree with you
and i assume the picture is of Olivia May she looks a real cutie lol xx

Hi Milly

Thanks for your kind words.
The piccy is my stepgrand daughter (from Poland) who is also an Olivia and such a cutey. However Olivia May is only 3 weeks old and is my Jackies baby and is beautiful. Will post picture when I can in my album.
Sorry to go off topic but am a very proud Gran .xxxxxxxxxxxx

PS and I plan to train her to buy from Rocks TV .LOL

Rocks chat is, and always has been, somewhat cliquey. That's just human nature. You get a whole bunch of people together in a room and certain people are going to naturally gravitate towards one another. If you empty the room and fill it up with predominantly one of the newly 'gravitated' groups, they are going to dominate the conversation. Its just the way it is.

Why don't we all just get back to buying jewellry. A revolutionary idea I know, but a fabulous one none the less I am sure you will agree.
