The Jewellery Channel welcomes Ruth Linnett as the latest addition to its existing team of well seasoned and knowledgeable presenters. Ruth is enthusiastic to join The Jewellery Channel and will be presenting her maiden show on Tuesday 9th February.

Having trained as an Actress at Bretton Hall University, Ruth has subsequently worked in TV/theatre and Radio for various companies including Channel 4, Granada and Radio 4. Ruth has leant her presenting skills in the corporate DVD world to clients ranging from Natwest to Boots. In theatre land, Ruth has toured in many plays and musical productions, where amongst other roles, she’s played a multitude of witches from gingerbread ones to wicked green ones!

After getting tired of ‘melting’ and scaring children across the UK, Ruth turned her hand to modelling, which seemed to be an obvious vocation, having reached a statuesque 6ft! She ‘walked the walk’ for Next and John Lewis to name but a few.

For several years Ruth ventured into the corporate world, working extensively as an Event Manager across the UK and Europe. In addition to this, presenting live at road shows across the UK and Ireland kept her off the streets for a year or so, until she started to work as a Stage Manager. During this time, Ruth helped organise award ceremonies, TV events and dinners, the highlight of which involved 3,000 guests and President Clinton.

“I am delighted to be joining The Jewellery Channel and feel to become a ‘gem of an expert’ with a hunger for learning all that I can about gemstones. I am already wondering how many words I can get into a tangle on air, an art I have perfected over the years. I look forward to you joining me at The Jewellery Channel for my maiden show on February 9th,” says Ruth.

What a great choice, Derek said last night that there'd be a new femail presenter. It'll be lovely to see Ruth's calm style presenting on TJC.

Great news!! :mysmilie_696:

Is it? :mysmilie_34:

I see that almost all of the new presenters (john scott, stacey ellis and now ruth) have come from rocksandco before it (rocksandco) moved north to the midlands. If the same continues to happen then we will probably see almost all of the former rocksandco presenters ending up on this particular channel.

I wonder if Ruth will retain the pizzazz / character she used to have when she was on rocksandco? Looking at john scott :mysmilie_34: and stacey ellis :mysmilie_81:, they dont seem to have as much character as they used to do when they existed on rocksandco. Maybe at TJC they have been told to dumb down their characters a bit as its not them that matters, its the selling of the jewellery that matters ie let the jewels do the talking rather than the presenters (well you know what I mean) :mysmilie_687:

Hi, I think the style and pace of presenting is very different on TJC. Quality sells!
Fast autions and variety of jewellery items to show means that the presenter cannot spend a great deal of time chatting with the studio team.

I wish Ruth good luck and success with TJC

Exactly!! TJC doesn't need to rely on lots of flannel like Rocks&Co does with the Dreadful Diniz Duo and presenters larking about with the studio team. On TJC there is still plenty of fun to listen to when Noush and Steve are on and John is starting to make his own unique mark now especially when he's on the late shift. :mysmilie_698:There is simply no comparison between the two channels, one is class and the other is dross.

Couldn't have put it better.

Good luck Ruth!

Did you hear John talking about you the other night? :mysmilie_17:

I did Klos :mysmilie_698:and I hadn't even texted him when he mentioned me, but did so afterwards to say 'hello' from me and the furries. :D That man has a remarkable memory cos I only ever texted him once before with my st.com name and that was quite a long while ago. :mysmilie_82:

Although my nickname suggests I am an out and out rocksanco fan :mysmilie_81:, that's not so true these days, what with repeating jewel auctions, still only 2 presenters :mysmilie_81:, and the ubiquitous diniz twins :mysmilie_81:, I have lost a lot of faith in the channel. :(

You mentioned flannel, but that's what rocksandco was like in the "good old days", and it brought the channel a good bit of character (in my opinion), chatting with the crew etc. But they don't seem to do that at all now as there is hardly anyone working for them! :mysmilie_81: On TJC you can't lark or interact as there aren't any crew in the studio (or not many anyway).

Anyway bottom line is that all these channels are here to sell jewels, and what differs between them is the presenting style, and the variety, quality and pricing of the jewels they have on offer. It would be pretty boring if they were all the same.

:mysmilie_82: Really good news! Looking forward to seeing Ruth on TJC :mysmilie_696:

Even though I am not necessarily the best of fans of TJC :mysmilie_81: as I prefer another jewel channel (and no I don't mean rocksandco!), I still would love to see Ruth back on TV again. :mysmilie_374:

She was a lovely character, and pretty with it :mysmilie_374: when she was on rocksandco, and I am sure she will do a grand job for all you TJC fans and customers. Good luck Ruth with your new venture :mysmilie_374:

This is fantastic news! Great to "see" you again Ruth.

One of my all time favourite presenters, with a calm presenting style and a genuine affable personality.

Super news, I liked Ruth, nice style of presenting.

I had also thought that John seemed more restrained than on Rocks, personally I liked his banter with the crew and his special brand of naughtiness!
