SERIOUSLY ??? Whoever poured the plus size model into this needs to go to specsavers ! the poor girl looks ****** awful, the size is far too small on her and certainly doesn't do her legs any favours. Sorry to be harsh, but no-one in their right minds would buy this dress if they thought they would look like this.

I really like the look of the brown leopard one - never bought any Nina Leonard before, can anyone advise re sizing for a high street 14 please? Thanks

I bought a few during the Lennie Feinberg years, I was a 12 top/14 bottom & a medium fitted me perfectly. I still have two dresses that I love but because they are polyester I can only wear them when it's cooler. Last September I decided that I looked matronly &, as I was about to turn 60, I decide to lose weight - I've lost too much but the NL dresses still look fine because the shoulders fit well & I think that shows that they were well made.

I've thought for some time that Flinty looks like a well-upholstered sofa, possibly a Chesterfield, & seeing her in this dress in THAT pattern confirms this. Since reading Shopperholic's comment yesterday I now also see her as Les Dawson :mysmilie_19:

I saw Cate on QVC Italy (briefly and only time I put TV on!) and she had a TSV there that was ghastly and more money than the UK offering. It appears that QVC Italy charge EU6.95 postage for every item no matter what it is.

I've only seen QVC Italy once & that was about 5 years ago, it seemed quite homespun but at least the presenters looked well dressed. How was your holiday?

Holiday was lovely, especially Venice, Albanian coast and Mykynos, so sunny and I got to wear a lot of QVC clothes that had never been worn before :mysmilie_17: Not sure cruising is for me though, very, very busy and some of it was a bit Butlins at Sea, however, we had a lovely time and glad we went. It was so hot I'm nearly pink instead of blue! I also realised that watching QVC is a habit I don't need lol.

Awwww that was a shame. Cruising can depend very much on which cruise line you choose. I've always gone with Cunard, who cater very little for children, so there is never the 'family' vibe you get with other lines. On the downside it is mainly older and the retired who are their customers, so walking sticks and wheelchairs are the accessories of some, but I can deal with that, rather than be in continuous earshot of boisterous children who aren't disciplined.

You're right Brissels and we didn't think about that. Our ship was Italian run and we were surprised by the amount of babies and children on board. Most of the other passengers were Italian or Chinese so it was hard to just generally chat with other folk and some parts of the ship were just too crowded to use (pool and pool bar). However, would possibly go on another but definitely do more research beforehand. Glad we tried it though.

We had planned to take a cruise on the Viking Sky because it is a smaller cruise ship. We are not too good with crowds any more. Just before we booked it was on the news in March, it was stranded off the western coast of Norway in very rough seas and passengers had to be airlifted! That was the end of that. We have enjoyed some wonderful cruises mostly around the Greek islands and would still recommend them. Glad you enjoyed your holiday CC!

I always have Jean-Paul Satre's "hell is other people" in mind when I think of cruises!

I think it has to be essential to do your homework very carefully.

It doesn't surprise me that an Italian cruise line would have loads of children on their cruises - children are idolised and celebrated in Italy like no other place I've been. In the UK we are the polar opposite of the Italians, who joyously welcome the bambini in every social setting. We barely tolerate children, which I find sad. They are the future tax payers and citizens who will fund our pensions and healthcare, and some will even be our caregivers in our time of need.

I think the problem with children isn't the children, it's the parents (same as with badly behaved pets). If the children are not properly socialised and shown how to behave in a social setting, how are they supposed to behave?

The idea of a cruise does appeal - who wouldn't like to go from location to location, and see wonderful sites, but not have to constantly pack and unpack, and lug heavy suitcases from one hotel to another? You just have to find one where there is enough space to be able to find places where you can socialise as much or as little as you want.

I totally agree MML. We had two daughters & now have three grandchildren, all loved & appreciated but not treated as friends & raised within parameters. I see so many parents who shower their children with material possessions & spend all their time taking them to one activity after another don't seem to enjoy them. When our two were growing up I was aware that we weren't just their mum & dad but also parents because we had the responsibility of raising future citizens.

Its not that I don't like children, its just that I don't want to be bothered by other peoples children, and that's when I'm out for a meal or on a cruise. Listening to little ones pleading 'I want, I want' without so much as a please or thank you, and never being reprimanded, is something I'd rather not be within earshot of. So I deliberately don't eat at the likes of Harvester or that type of restaurant which are family orientated and have high chairs ready as you enter. Likewise with cruises, its best to go in the Spring or Autumn when children are at school or those lines who don't cater for young families.
