......... that many of the Rocks and Co ring designs are suspiciously beginning to look like GemsTV designs?

For example - this is supposed to be from the "one collection" and Stacey said "this is a design made exclusively for us":-

Now here is a ring from GemsTV:

This is a Pink Danburite from Rocks and Co. Doesn't the design look familiar?

I've been suspecting all the horses are coming from the same stable for some time now Meesh. Even when designs are different, there's a distinct familiarity about a lot of them in the same way you'd recognise any artist's work.

In my opinion this, as is so much of the tosh, completely unnecessary. I think in this time of mass production anything under 100 is exclusive, within shopping channel price ranges. All that is achieved is another reason to distrust them.

You are absolutely right, Meeshoo. They had this ring on one evening... and I knew immediately that it was the same ring as sold on Gems TV. I know because I had been quite interested in it. It sold for £90 on Rocks & Co but was as low as £45 on Gems TV at one point (it's now in the web games for £70 plus). I was hoping Rocks & Co would produce some unnusual, innovative designs but looks like we're headed for 'same old; same old'.

So on that basis Huggles (yes - I recognise this ring too), Rocks & Co could be responsible for the hefty price hikes on Gems. By being the complete opposite of competition, Gems must have felt safe to increase their own prices.

anyone else notice the similarity between this and what we used to know as the PP ring?

Here's the link hun!

It surely is a PP ring with diamonds! :30:

You know, I don't mind (sort of) that some of their designs are the same BUT I really do mind when I'm told by a presenter that a design has been made specifically for Rocks. That's just plain misleading and naughty. :28:

I've always thought that, right from the start - the style of the photos looks very similar, too. My guess is they're made in the same factory. On the other hand, most of the designs are different - and Rocks & Co's designs are mostly MUCH better than those on Gems IMO.

I agree some of their designs are stunning but I can see ant's gonads creeping into the designs. For example, look at the Pink Danburite ring photo. :25: Why put a "rare" gem into a setting like that?

I also spotted earlier a Kunzite ring very similar to one i purchased from TJC a couple of years ago. Large oval Kunzite gemstone with diamond pave set shoulders. It appears to me R&C are buying in from somewhere, not original, exclusive R&C designs.

I've stopped buying now, I'm fed up with the designs - they are all the same. As the prices are creeping up, it is almost the same price to get something made bespoke at my local jeweller/artisan than buy from Rocks. It's a shame. But the prices have steadily been increasing of late, and I've returned two or three items when I've seen them on subsequently at between £50-£80 cheaper. That really gets my goat. I returned one rainbow sapphire bracelet when I saw one being auctioned for a greater carat weight, better gems and £70 cheaper. I just feel I can't trust them anymore. The earlier great deals, and real falling auctions, means that they have stopped being value for money.

Blimey Meesh - what eyesight you have! No wonder you can spot a good gem from so far away. <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D7%252F7%255F2%255F126%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_2_126.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D7%252F7_2_126%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

i often wondered right from the start if R&Co are the same company as gems everything about them is so alike even down to 3 of gems presenters being on there

I've become very bored with their designs, both of them, but their dull settings with diamond dust always make the rings look cheap and disappointing. What a shame, they have some lovely stones, can't someone suggest they have more appealing designs and better settings especially for the more expensive ones. Meesho, you are my Delphic Oracle, keep it up.

This isn't an issue just affecting Rocks & Co and Gems.Tv.

This is an alexandrite ring I bought from Rocks.TV the other day

Here is a tanzanite ring I saw on Ebay today - not sure which channel its from but i'm sure someone will recognise the tag design:

As far as I can see, the design is identical.

I'm guessing that they all buy from similar sources - and if you look at people involved in Rocks & Co, Rocks TV and GemsTV, they've all worked together at some point. So it makes sense.

The one thing that annoys me though, is that these should NOT be marketed as exclusive designs. That's just dishonest.

NannieA, I've been called some things in my lifetime but Delphic Oracle is a new one :)

That ring is from TJC. I have seen one or two identical pieces on Rocks TV and TJC.

Rocks & Co is part of the JML GROUP which also advertises as a shopping channel, selling a lot of tatt, so says it all really !

Gems tv was brilliant when it first started up AND they had a big guy who was supposed to be the gem finder. They also had a brilliant concept of selling just the stones without the setting. But not too many have got in on the act.

An old Greek - well I never knew that Meesh <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D26%252F26%255F33%255F2%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_33_2.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D26%252F26_33_2%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>
