Findings - silver and silver plate

Hi all

Just started a spot of jewellery making for myself and friends. I've noticed from visiting a couple of shops and various online stores that the majority of findings are silver plated whereas Jewellerymaker makes a point of stating that theirs are silver all through (except when they are not, of course i.e. the gold plated stuff).

I really don't like the idea of silver plated particularly if I am giving gifts. Is JM.com really the only place to get real silver? Is it that unusual or would hobbyists normally use plated?

If you look on ebay you will find sterling silver findings. Also try Silver Corporation and Palmers. I've had findings from Silver Corp. The findings are good from JM though. I prefer using them, as you know you are getting what you are paying for. I bought "sterling silver findings" from ebay only to find they've tarnished and aren't Sterling silver at all. HTH
