I know this is slightly off-topic, but bear with me (please), if anyone has an Echo (I refuse to have one of these 'always on' machines), and asks them for a recipe for say Toad in the Hole and Gravy do they get the American version of Toad in the Hole and Gravy or the British Version?!

I don,t know if this helps but I have an Alexa enabled tablet and I asked for a Toad in the Hole recipe and I was offered a Victoria Sandwich recipe!
I tried again and I was offered a choice of Toad in the Hole recipes all from the BBC food site so I got the English version

I’ve just asked my Echo for a Toad in the Hole recipe and, like SusieSue, got recipes from the BBC food site on my first time of asking.
