That is a fine pet he must have taken some specialist care.I have just been talking to a young man controlling the trolleys at the Supermarket.I remarked we were very lucky to have an electricity supply & he said he had a generator because of his exotic pets.Tarantulas we’re mentioned at this point I made sure there were miles of crawling space from where he lived to mine.Have nothing against them obviously just would prefer us not to meet!
Or else avoid talking to young men outside supermarkets.
Especially if they may have large spiders that bite.
😉😂

They’re definitely a specialist animal and not for the faint hearted. I also had a petrol generator in case of power cuts. Thankfully it was never needed.

A lot of research was done before I adopted him and the rescue centre also came to the house to check the size of his vivarium, lights and heat lamps etc before they signed him over to me. His vivarium was pretty big, to say the least, and completely filled the alcove in the lounge. The sliding doors for it were specially made and were 6mm toughened glass so there was no problem with them ever cracking. He used to come off the large branch, that was under his heat lamps, and would scrape on the glass when he wanted to come out. He spent quite a lot of time sitting on a cushion on the lounge windowsill and soon became well known in the neighbourhood. I got known as “the lizard lady” which was interesting as I was a teacher at the local school which was about 100 yards from my house. On the last day of term, and with parental permission, my class came round to the house to meet him.

He is absolutely stunning Toril. I really lizards and have a Tortoise myself. He is free range around the house but has access to the lamp when he wants it. He sleeps upstairs in a small doggy bed, he is called Sheldon. I am not into snakes or spiders. I held a chilli spider once, just to conquer my fear and it was actually nice and furry ut I am still freaked out by a house spider! I got bitten by a false widow at my brother's house, that was awful and my leg swelled up like a balloon. Well, until tomorrow, hi-ho hi-ho, it's off to work I go... xx

Thank you. 🙂

I’ve got dozens of photos of him doing “unlizard like ” things but don’t want to interrupt this thread with them. I don’t know if there’s a pets thread anywhere on here. 🤔

I’ve got photos of some of his “unlizard like” pursuits. For example, him sitting on a cushion watching TheTweenies, which he did every afternoon (it was their colours and the movement that kept his attention) and ones of him standing on my computer keyboard, while I was trying to type reports and letters for work, which resulted in some very bizarre words being generated. …… not to mention all his other antics. 🙄 He was certainly a character and was well known in the online reptile community as well.

I also had three tortoises 😍 when I was younger. I am quite comfortable holding snakes and any reptile, but show me a house spider and it’s a totally different story. 😱

My granny and grandad had a Tortoise which they got at the time of the WWII or before and I remember in the 60s. She was called Minnie and used be let out and wander up and down the street but always came home, they had no garden. My big brother had a friend who was frightened of her and used to knock the door run to the edge of the pavement and ask is the dinosaur out?

A friend got a bearded dragon for her grandson, Star Rider. But he lives in her house and has the proper equipment to keep him. So they get him crickets which they eat as well as loads of green veg. I was sitting in her living room and noticed something on the wall which was not there a second before. I said that spider moves quick it wasn't there a moment ago. She told me it was a cricket, seems some of them had escaped and flying around the house.

Thank you. 🙂

"Hi, I'm back from my holiday, so the parcels have started coming, and the first ones are Lola Ro-oh's "she chirped! She bought 2 bracelets in clearance full price £39.51 - clearance price £31.50 and of course she paid the obligatory £3.95 p&p per item. She was disappointed by the blue one because it wasn't as vibrant looking as it was in the pic, so she's sending it back, but the white one which is supposed to be striped grey agate she's keeping 'cause she knew it would be white and it goes with her other stuff - Lordy Lord! You couldn't even make this stuff up.
I am seriously thinking about dropping Q a line about this nonsense, about how irresponsible this app is and how it doesn't promote friendship and community etc. I'm gonna have to think carefully as to how I word it (not that it will do any good whatever I write) eg, I shall say that I downloaded the app because I was worried about a friend who keeps posting vids, so I checked it out. I don't want them to think that I looked at the app out of interest in actually buying things if that makes sense!
Like I say, it won't do me an ounce of good but I'll have got it off my chest and will be interested in what they've got to say in response - which no doubt will be nothing or a standard " We are sorry that you're disappointed in our app, but we have thousands of very happy subscribers". I'll let you know when I've done it!

Yep, that's them told! I tried to copy and paste my message but I managed to mess up and ended up having to write it out all over again...but the gist is basically what we've been saying on here about encouraging a spend, spend, spend mentality and how it creates competition among members. I said that it painted a picture of extremely worrying and sometimes bizarre shopping habits etc etc. I told them I felt it is irresponsible of them, and that it should at least be linked to an addiction helpline or carry some kind of "shop responsibly" message!

I really don't know what they think they can possibly achieve - I get the distinct impression that boredom plays a big part. I think for Ms Lola a typical day off for her is get up have a cup of tea, wait for the parcel/s to arrive. Open up video on the phone, get a knife and savage open the parcel, say a few words good or bad about the contents, throw the "keepers" onto the pile, the "not sures" onto another pile. Quick lunch break, pack up the returns, go to the post office, come back - Get that telly back on, listen to Q with one ear open whilst browsing their website for the next purchase or 5!

You are a lovely person 💐

I joked about Ms all things Lola aiming for some sort of mis placed fame when I saw the holiday photos now think there may be something in that?
People post these things on FB but to a lot of Strangers? Very self possessed comes to mind.

By the Devil I think - Better call for the exorcist - Bell, book and (Neom) candle! and a Lola Rose rosary - yes, a Lola Rosary! Someone's gotta stop her before she starts a religious sect "The Qvarians" where they pray to the god of tat and destroy all your possessions unless they come from QVC

At some point I hope all those buy now pay later people will come to their senses. The excess of indulgence at Christmas is so unnecessary.
I listened to a phone-in earlier in the week, and one mum was getting her daughter a 'new' (to her) scooter for her daughter. She had been side-eyed for weeks and months by other mums for not replacing it already.
Another mum uses the gifting advice for her kids: something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read. For some, 4 presents is unattainable, yet for others it would seem mean.
Frankly, though, that's more or less what my parents used to do... and many pre-loved or hand-made things among them.
It is a shame that people aren't presented more regularly with alternative approaches to a season which should be about spending quality time with loved ones...with faith based activities if it's your thing.
