One or two of their watches are ok, RRPs a bit over the top :ROFLMAO:, but despite that at least they are made in Switzerland, but as you say some are hideous plus they've gone in for the huge watch sizes. Steinharts are good, I've the Ocean 2 Premium with the black dial, love it.

He also just said, about the Five Points watch, harks back to Swiss watches of the 60s. Not at 44mm diam it doesn't, that's big today for a dress watch, but would have been a monster compared to Swiss watches in the 60s.

Yeah taste's subjective and I'm not exactly bang up to date with trends etc, however to me some of the offerings are indeed hideous! When it comes to watches I've always preferred cleaner more simple lines, elegant I suppose you could say, so a lot of the stuff on IW just makes me think 'yuck.'

Pushing the Faulex subalike, I have Steinharts which are identical with ETA's & Sellita's for half the price;)
Some of those Gevril's are hideous:sick:
Case sizes might've been my fault😳 I did email them a while back asking them to state case sizes as big watches aren't for everybody, oops:)

So it's YOUR faut?!?

;)

Like Hammy says, between bleating on about case size and weight, you'd think those were the most important features. Again it all points to who their target demographic is i.e. people that think massive heavy watches = macho.

They said he doesn't wear his Rolex day/date anymore but he does, just not on watch hours.

Although he almost forgot on I think it was a Constantin Weisz show. He went straight from one product onto the watch show and suddenly realised he had his watch on and you could see him trying to sneakily take it off as the camera quickly shifted. :ROFLMAO:

I'm not sure how and when it started as such, but there was a definitely a switch from simple and smaller classic watch style to a larger size and for some brands larger with a blingy gawdy look. I do think most of the established watchmakers (and a lot of the high street Fashion Brands) have kept the stylish simpler look but increased their sizes, where say 36mm was the norm now it's more 38/40mm for a clean dress watch (although still a place for 36mm) and 43/44 for bigger divers and Chronographs (especially autos), which if done right isn't too bad.
Where it gets silly is when you have these brands on IW that aren't watchmakers they have dress watches at 43/45mm and Divers/Chronographs at 45/50mm+ with outlandish, gawdy flashy colours etc, shouting look at me, rather than just a simply stylish look. They've also seemed to have forgotten what a watch is for, to tell the time, some of them seem to want to make it really hard to actually see at a glance what the time is. :ROFLMAO: Earnshaw is bad for that, some of their skeleton watches it's really hard to see the hands against the movement.
Away from IW was just thinking of Invicta there, who on the one hand have the decent pro diver range (submariner homage) in 38/40mm but then have some the most ugly huge watches (up to 70mm for their Sea Hunter, you could imagine in the rest of their ranges.
Who the hell wears these things. I suppose great for self defence, just swing your wrist in a muggers direction and you'd knock em out.:ROFLMAO:

away from shopping TV, thankfully still masses of small (and not so small), simple and stylish watches out there.:)

Not sure what the brand is however they sell one where the actual timeface (sorry if not correct term!) is contained within a small circle towards the top of the case, as in the size of a 5p piece by the looks of it! Talk about 'style' over substance!

Could be Constantin Weisz, they have a skeleton/double open heart style with a smaller circle at the top with the time, they also have one where the minutes are read as normal, hours & second are read in their own smaller sub dials, so looking at three different areas to get the time.

Don’t know if it was on QVC or IW, there was a sports brand of watches think they called Kahuna they always used to have sell out hours, used to be presented mostly by Whatters or Debbie Flint
I had one of those:eek: years ago now, can't even remember what it looked like:D

Just shows you, that so called experts ain't experts at all.

Tonight's expert on CCCP - it's was the brainchild of Alexander Shorokhoff, wanted showcase achievements of the Soviet Union, using the Slava movement, and this iconic movement and watch design came together in 1957 to create CCCP watch Company.

Where do they get this crap from, and do they just pick dates out of their arse. 1957? Schorokhoff wasn't even born then, 1960 he when he was born and was the mid 80s before he got into watchmaking.

Kahuna watches are still on the go, I bought one recently and still have one working which I bought off QVC way back. Cheap watches built like tanks, the handy velcro straps, the one from QVC took some batterings at work and justs keeps going.

I'll tell you what, tonights CCCP watch show, disregarding the selly stuff, that Jim bloke has potential to oust dirty Pete as the actual funny presenter if wobbly jaw Sean lets him

"Thee CCP factory was demolished" Did anyone else hear that statement during a recorded video presentation segment?

It was immediately followed by something like (not a quote) "but the brand lives on""
