Thanks Mutts, you're right we can't all like everything, and to be honest, this is BidTv we're talking about, the company that sell poundland items for a tenner and £7.99 p&p so can you imagine how much this perfume cost to produce per bottle, mind you this also is the company that maid a Peter Simon figurine to mark ten years at Bid!.........I rest my case. :mysmilie_17:

You are so right. The company lied about perfume such as Laurelle being "high end" when it was cheap tat and we are supposed to not moan about it on this forum as we are not being "fair" to the product. And yes I did smell about 3 versions of the Laurelle Sexxy Shoo in TJ Hughes and paintstripper would smell nicer.

Okay firstly not a fan.

But, perfume if vintage or, numbered limited editions will go for very big money. Yes even four figures. But the buyer has to be there for it. Guerlian Liu(which I own the 1999 vintage edt), is going for $7 a ml for the edt. Some even consider that price cheap, its been reformulated so people want the original not the watered down one out today. It came in a 93mls size so work out that at $7 a ml

I won a few years back on Ebay a vintage 1960 Caron Fleurs de Rocaille 75mls extract, I got it for £23 as the guy had it in the wrong section. It should have gone for ££££ quite easily. Still sealed with the gold wire etc.

But modern perfumes such as Laique(sp), are less than half the price sold on QVC online brand new unopened. Allbeauty for one. TKMaxx recently have loads of Penhaligons £24-29, L'Artisan Parfumeur £29-39.99. I bought Skin On Skin which is still sold on their own website for £115, and Mon Numero 10 £135 for £39.99 each.

I couldn't agree more Mutts. What annoyed me was Peter Sherlock saying what good value three bottles of Charlie were for £24.99 £7.99 p&p and £1.53 phone call, and of course they sold because Peter is, well he's honest isn't he? that's why people bought when he said what amazing value they were! Home and Bargain had them for £4.99 per bottle, and he must've known that, so I lost all respect I had for the man deceiving customers, some probably elderly, ripping them off for almost double, £15.

Head above the parapet! Waves a white flag! Afternoon guys I hope you're all well...

Just a few points. I did 6 very successful shows with QVC, not 1. I resigned from QVC as a guest as I gambled on Equal World being a success which as we now know it wasn't.... I certainly wasn't let go from QVC and the time I "looked a right sight" was probably the time I had severe laryngitis but went in despite feeling like death. Then again maybe I just looked rotten. Who knows lol.

Now, my perfumes. I don't mind people criticising them if they've smelled them. But to call them paint stripper when you haven't tried them seems a bit unkind. So if you'd like a bottle sending out to you let me know. They are really nice! Honestly.

SO, Fabulift. It's not "another eyessential" but you'll have to watch on Monday to find out WHY it's different.

RIGHT, I think you'll see a different Peter anyway. I only working with brands that I love and I promise no shocked faces. Honest.

Have a lovely afternoon x

Hi Pete,
You won't remember but I once emailed the studio when you were doing an Equal World show and I asked about Matinee Idol Extreme edp. My current fave is Terre d'Hermes and I fancied trying something equally masculine and unashamedly butch! Matinee Idol sounded like it might fit the bill but then Equal World shut down and I missed the boat. As I don't do Facebook I had no way of contacting you to find any other retailers. Could you contact me by PM to discuss? I tried sending you a pm bit your inbox must need clearing because it wouldn't send.

Cheers.
Chad

I am pretty sure that Charlie is openly on sale in Boots probably fairly cheaply (I haven't worn it since I was teenager which is over thirty years ago). Let alone the wonderful discount shops out there. We check prices but people get swept along by what the presenter says. Pope Pete whilst on Bid said that Charlie remains in the top 40 of perfumes and has done for years. He didn't explain his comment - or what "top 40" he was referring to.

I don't really understand all the hate directed at Shopping Tele presenters. Do you expect them to go on air and tell you how much cheaper you can buy product X if only you went elsehwere? I mean that doesn't happen in your local supermarket does it? The store assistants don't stand outside directing you to Aldi and Lidl. At the end of the day people have the freedom to choose where and how they shop. And whilst I'm having a rant, I still haven't fully understood the process whereby people who clearly watch an awful lot of shopping tv, largely for the purposes of entertainment or even company then feel the need to come on a shopping tv forum to say how terrible it all is. "Hey I watched Peter Simon acting like a jerk on Tv again last night, just like he did every other time I watched him". Well here's an idea, don't watch him! I mean why would you subject yourself to something you hate when there's so much free pornography on the internet?

Pornography on the Internet? Don't know how you spend your pass time but that's certainly not how we spend ours, so you've disclosed a bit too much information there. People come on here to comment on presenters and how they act because it's a "forum" and that's what people do, good or bad! And if presenters are trying to deceive the customer by being dishonest about prices or acting ridiculous then we have a right to call them on it...........if you don't like reading negative, true, factual comments with a little bit of tongue in cheek humour (get a sense of humour) well here's an idea.......don't read!

I think you need some worry angels and scented candles to help you calm down dear :mysmilie_12: Oh and on the internet porn I'm down to 3 hours a day. I find Marina Berry on TJC has a similar effect.

Aw no don't worry about me, I'm fine, I don't use scented candles or buy pieces of glass........except my double glazed windows but thanks anyway. :mysmilie_508::wink:

It was great of Peter to come on and contribute, so well done to you Peter!
Good luck for your future endeavour's - you know we all appreciate hearing from you.

Our man bugbear is when presenters lie "its so exclusive" etc when they are sold for peanuts on market stalls. The ASA were hiring extra staff when Bid were on. And many former Bid presenters are on Ideal World.

Spot on! Chad (probably an out of work presenter) uses the word "hate" doesn't realise that there's a difference between to hate and to observe, we're not " hating" we are observing then commenting on it and it's all true.

Agreed! And telling you that top fits size 8 to 20 when they clearly won't. I click over in the adverts to have a laugh as it is sometimes hilarious in an unintentional way. But we don't like the way Peter Simon acts and lies. That is not "hate". I was also confused about the reference to pornography.

Gets me when people say "don't watch then if you don't like!" but feel it's ok to read if they don't like, we can't make negative comments about lies being told on TV, but they can make negative comments about the poster, smacks of hypocrisy. I think they were fiddling with something when the porn comment was made........keyboard, I mean keyboard. :giggle:

Well that went well didn't it? Sorry if I've upset a few people. You'll see from my posting history and activity that I don't read most of the stuff on here for the very reason it's all so negative. I don't pretend that shopping tele offers good value, is well produced, or that the presenters aren't often crass or even downright weird. Some of them probably inflate the worth or value of products that are clearly tat. Well who knew? Just like every other salesman from your second hand car dealer to the bloke selling you life insurance or double glazing. People like to moan, God knows I like to moan, but I just find it something of a paradox that there are people here who clearly devote far too much time to watching shopping tele and who then find the time or inclination to comment on the terribleness of it all, every day. It's as though by crticising it relentlessly you're proving to yourself that actually you're in on the joke and rather than being so bored that you have to have Peter Simon for company every day, that you're performing some civic duty in warning the rest of us not to.

You haven't offended anyone, you can't come on a forum and be offended even though you're passively trying to be offensive. We don't watch far too much much shopping telly, we're intelligent enough to be able to base our views in a matter of minutes which is all I can stomach it for. We make light and joke about Peter Simon because let's face it, he's not a man you can be serious about. There's a few of us who have the same thoughts in common so we have a laugh about what otherwise are serious matters, for example the ASA fining Bid for playing on the vulnerable. We don't want to go into depressing formal detail about it so we have a laugh, and will continue to do so I'm afraid, just to let you know so you can avoid this thread, like I say we will continue to have a laugh which makes the day a little more light hearted, hope your day is the same.

Just adding, we don't take things too seriously like yourself and most definitely don't see it as a civic duty, but if people don't get conned, yes of course we'd be happy with that. No doubt you'll come back with another smart arsed comment like your porn one, but you carry on, like we will carry on having a giggle amongst ourselves. not bored and two minutes writing about Peter Simon doesn't mean you have his company all day, no one ever told you there's 24 hours in one?

Chad, we just have a bit of fun on here. We dip in and out and have a laugh, there is no civic duty, certainly not from me. That is certaibly my motivation, watch a few mnutes, post a comment, and read the response.

Mine too, obviously Chad feels it's his/her civic duty to save people from us having a laugh, let him/her crack on and we'll continue to have a Nutriblast on our Sit 'N' Cycle (oooerr!). :mysmilie_14:
