Well, we are in lockdown at the moment and if this carries on, our visiting the Christmas markets in Leeds with the family will be out the window as they are in lockdown from midnight tonight. Well, we can I suppose meet up with them as long as we're not visiting them at home or in gardens. I haven't a clue, very confusing!! Really getting fed up. My Mum who is 90 fell and broke her hip last week, she has been quite poorly, but they nailed her hip (had to google that) and she is now slowly on the mend. We have been allowed to visit, (LGI) but on Monday the hospital wouldn't let me see her as I'm from Kirklees, my brother who lives in Leeds could see her. Mum just couldn't understand why they wouldn't let me in. I feel fine, and am no different than I was the day before when they let me in. So a bit peeved at the moment.
I'm so sorry, poor you & poor mum, I'd imagine peeved is an understatement. I wonder how many cities will now have rising cases due to large numbers of students moving around the country to move in with others in cramped accommodation. Both our daughters got Freshers Flu so getting the Chinese horror was inevitable.

The youngsters were out in full force in Leeds last weekend. Pictures on the news feed with lasses with tiny frocks and high heels falling about all over. Gangs of them and the lads were worse. Social distancing was non existent. As far as I am concerned the pubs should be shut. (sorry if that bothers anyone), but to say I can't see my Mum but can go to the pub is infuriating. Thanks Twilight and am sorry your daughters got the flu.

We are under further lockdowns from midnight tonight and thankfully I got to see my youngest grand daughter for her birthday which was yesterday. From midnight we are not allowed to visit anybody nor them visit us and we can`t even meet outside in our gardens. Yet Mr V has been driving people to pubs, bars and clubs which have opened earlier so people can drink themselves silly before 10pm. The World has gone mad !

Blissy sending a kissy xxxx

Adds:

That sounds mad on it's own, but being late to the party I didn't want to add the same sort of stuff - but I will do anyway:

It's very endearing to hear how ecstatic you are about your Granddaughter. I'm translating all your comments in to a (posh) Liverpool accent & they become more lovely. How thoughtful that you've replied to all your mates.
Sending love & heartfelt warm wishes.

PS. What a lovely traditional name. How long before some child is stuck with 'Chandelier' or similar

Aw Blissy thank you love ❤️🥰. Shoppy accepts kissy and your very kind words. 🥰😘 xx

Me,not been anywhere and seen some family once since March. If,as they say,it will be all winter then that will be 12 months.

Aw Lp this world gets smaller and more isolated as the days roll on, we’re always here to talk and support each other, not the same I know but if ever you need to talk 🙏❤️

How lovely for you and all your family Shopper. Welcome to this strange world we are in Rose.😘😘

Aw thanks Lp, that’s very kind of you lovely ❤️🥰. Yes it’s most definitely a strange one for little Rose and all the new babies making an entrance 🙏 🥰❤️😘 xx

They were 18 & recovered, it was part of the first week at uni & didn't affect any of the general public. This year is very, very different & the movement of all those teens was bound to cause this increase in cases, where's the joined up thinking???

Stupid isn’t it, anyone would think you can’t drink yourself in to a stupor at home, pubs have never been my thing and if people can’t do without them, I think they have a problem.

I'm glad they have recovered Twilight. Flu is horrible, so goodness knows what Covid is like. We knew when the pubs opened there would be in increase in cases, many of the youngsters are just indifferent to Covid and don't believe it will harm them. I agree now the unis are back in business, all those teenagers getting together, it was only a matter of time before we were all in lockdown again. The first night the pubs opened back up, the police were all over our small town. People fighting in lumps in the town centre at midnight. What is wrong with them.

That's just the way it is Strato, certainly here in West Yorkshire. But the rest of the country is just the same. No-one knows what to do to avoid being fined or even arrested. Us in Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford in lockdown last week, London and Leeds tonight. It will be the whole country back in total lockdown next week. At least you can make me giggle about it all. :D Thank you for that. And on top of everything, Huddersfield Town can't seem to score a goal to save their lives. Husband is not amused. (It's on the telly as well).

Uh Oh, Houston, I have a problem :p I love the pubs but they're mostly shut and the ones that are open round here you have to drive to so no point. I just miss a bit of a laugh and joke and fussing other people's dogs, not to mention the football banter.

Aw sorry CC, I know they’re a good place to socialise and have a meal, I have been prone to a pub lunch 😊. I was thinking more the rowdy “larger louts” who can’t get enough by 10pm. 🥱

Our daughter-in-law is having her caesarean today with little Rose making her debut in the world, a little sister for (almost four year old) Haydn, it’s going to be scary for her though, our son can only drop her off so she has to go through it all alone, then he waits for a call to go and see his new daughter. I feel sorry for them it’s an absolutely scary time anyway, but to have this on top I couldn’t imagine what they’re going through, they’ve got infinite love and support all around them, so we’ll do all we can 🥰...........This is the first little girl on our side of the family and we’re all so excited 👏👏❤❤
I haven't been following this thread and just caught up 👩‍👩‍👧 but I'm so happy for you all and absolutely love the name.

Pubs have been the centre of communities for years, all the soaps have a local, & if you have a good one it's a great place for all sorts of things, not least friendship. Bars in towns & city centres are a different matter, I don't want to insult anyone who comes from Lincoln but I've never been anywhere so full of p***heads. We went to the first match of the 2019/20 season in August last year, the weather was perfect & when we arrived there were loads of people in the waterfront area, most had a pint in each hands & chasers on the tables, this was 1pm & by the time the match had finished they were still drinking. Add to that an all pervading smell of weed, dealing being done openly in shop doorways & something thrown onto the pavement that should have been put in a sanitary bin & it's not somewhere I'll be returning to in a hurry, if at all.

The pissheads and the young women getting drunk (and getting caught on CCTV having a dump on a pavement) behave like animals in my closest large town (thankfully not very close).

I had the misfortune of being invited out to my friend's daughter's 21st for a meal and few drinks afterwards several years ago. The meal was in a nice restaurant but walking to the bar and the car park afterwards a few hours later was like another planet. It seems that after dark, sex in doorways and using them as a toilet for both sexes as well as violence and loutish behaviour is the norm. The worst thing we saw passing an alley was a handful of young men queuing to have sex with a young woman who told us to eff off when we shouted if she was okay. I'm just glad there were several of us as the whole thing was intimidating.

My friend's daughter and her friends had a lecture on the way home about not behaving like that but they were as horrified as us oldies. The joys of a sheltered upbringing in the countryside I suppose.
