Reminds me of a house I once lived near. It had a front garden complete with wishing well, toadstools, umpteen gnomes doing various actions from fishing to swinging in a tree and more besides and what I presumed to be fairy houses. Little kids loved it especially as it was en route to a local Primary School.
My niece has a set of horror garden gnomes which she brings out for Halloween when she dresses her house front and garden with all things spooky including a 6ft skeleton !

I persuaded him to let me take the bear on a weekend trip to Liverpool where I continued his adventures. I even took him into Anfield to watch a Liverpool game. This made Mr MA extremely nervous…”you can’t take him out in here, you’ll be lynched” he kept saying. I did manage to sneak him out of my bag to get a picture with a background of the stadium while the game was in progress.

They may well have tried to reinvent themselves with box ticking promos and you can aspire to this ads, but the core of stock from the small ads in Titbits still remains strong.
Again Duke of Cheese another blast from the past I never thought I'd hear again. I remember those adverts, ok not from Titbits I hasten to ad, but yes Loon pants, anyone remember the "Sod off" t shirt, with a big hand pointing at a hairy little figure?! I so wanted that but my mum said no way! Talking false teeth, things that stuck to the spokes of your bike, there was even some kind of gadget that was supposed to make it sound like a motorbike! You've opened up a whole page of 1970's memories, collecting Bazooka Joe comic strips and everybody at school trying to draw the Setyres Groundhog on our exercise books!
Anyway, back to the gnomes, each to their own and all that but, no, they're not a bit of fun, leave them in the 70s where they belong and put your money towards your next leccy bill. Funnily enough Gnome Mart is the name of the spoof shopping pages in Private Eye magazine!

Can't be doing with them at all. But my niece's 3 year old son Charlie loves them. He picked 2 out for my brother's birthday last year, which my brother has to have sitting in his garden. (My niece thinks it's hilarious).
He doesn't like them at all but as his grandson chose them for him, he can't just hide them in his shed.
I have a few things dotted about the garden, not a gnome in sight.

I won £500 worth of garden things in a competition. As well as everything else that I received, there were three gnomes in the box that were holding little solar lanterns. I gave them to my elderly neighbour who was delighted as they are “company” for the others that she’s got. I don’t “do” gnomes.

Don't know........but I live in Italy and in a garden in our village there are all seven dwarves plus Snow White BUT her hair is blonde!! Well, yellow actually.
On more than one occasion I have had to physically stop myself from pointing out this huge error by stridently saying 'excuse me, but Ms. White has hair as black as ebony and skin as white as snow, haven't you read the story or seen the animated film!!!!!!' but I just know it won't go down well. Personally, I think they got palmed off with Sleeping Beauty and just aren't aware.
For those of you who are interested (and I am aware that there won't be many of you) the Italian translation would be 'capelli neri come l'ebano e pelle bianca come la neve'.
Phew, I need a cup of tea now - never fails to rile me up! Note to self - calm down - it's only a fairy tale and SW doesn't and hasn't ever existed!

We had neighbours who loved gnomes not cute funny or slightly rude gnomes but
almost pornographic they were in the front garden
My daughter used to ask questions about them
I had to be quick off the mark to think of something
Oh they are playing leap frog ,piggy back

In the end when they went on holiday we noticed someone digging round them to get them out from the cement they were fixed to
All the neighbours came out to watch and cheered as they were slung in a skip down the road ,neighbour opposite like the rest of us had complained about the the gnomes to
no avail and they were putting off buyers
When next door came home from holiday we all said we had seen nothing as most of us had been away

I think the world has moved on now from gnomes, its now............................. Buddhas !!! every garden centre, homewares stores, have an abundance of sleeping/resting/sitting Buddhas. TK Maxx are awash with them. There are Buddha planters from 6" high to almost 3' high, and not forgetting the ones on fountains and those that are lit up from within.
I don't mind gnomes but I don't have any. My former neighbours had those mooning gnomes with the pants down along with a hundred other tasteless things. They were horrid. I do have a jeremy fisher though and a hideous bad taste rabbit with a morphing globe in its front paws (the back paws are somehow broken and the ****** thing won't stand up straight). Said rabbit was bought from QVC one night - well after wine o'clock. No doubt GG was wittering on how it was about to sell out and I fell for it

You're right. I was looking for things to decorate my decent sized balcony and Buddhas were everywhere. I settled on pots with artificial plants, they look OK. The cheapest one was from Primark and was only £5. Got a shelving unit from IKEA to display a couple. Homesense/TK Maxx had some great stuff. All cheap and cheerful but look good. Definitely no garden gnomes, didn't realise they were still a thing
We had a Bhudda in the garden but it has been ravaged by frost and it now has no nose or fingers. It's getting smashed up and binned. Pity because hubby painted it black and his robe gold and it looked ok amongst shrubs and ferns.
