Can anybody help me out here? I'm after a DBTY necklace and have been looking on ebay it seems only American sellers have them so I need to factor in 20% VAT and 2.5% duty but I though they all had to have the copyright symbol (the C in a circle) hallmarked on them but none of these have? Any ideas?

Does anyone know anywhere else I can get one other than Tiffanys lol

Thank you I can't afford to buy from Tiffany. I wanted some advice as to whether the ebay ones are genuine as they do not have the copyright symbol?

I can't help but read that and think you are answering your own question???
I don't know about Tiffany stuff but can't imagine that they would be slack about a copyright symbol

I don't know anything about it, but would ebay sellers be allowed to quote the copyright symbol?

I hear what you are saying but all the sellers have the same hall markings so surely they can't all be fake? plus I thought ebay were pretty hot on fakes these days?
I also read somewhere that people don't usually go to the ex pence of faking platinum and diamonds, usually Tiffany fakes are silver.
I just wondered if anyone owned one and new about it.

I was curious and had a looky on google bout tiffany fakes & they don't mention a copyright sign, but did detail the marks you could expect

Its a tricky one especially without being able to see & feel a real one to compare the ebay ones with if you did decide to take the plunge

Most of the Tiffany items on Ebay are fakes I'm afraid. Of course there are exceptions but they're in the minority. If you want a genuine Tiffany then the likelihood is you'll be buying from the US or you'll have to stalk Ebay for any in the UK.

Just one idea for you - you know you only pay duty on the declared amount on the invoice don't you?

I have a DBTY necklace and had it made for me by Diamonds By Lauren in the US but with yellow diamonds in a yellow gold chain. Try DiamondGeezer or the other company in Birmingham that you've used before. They may be able to make one. It won't be a real Tiffany but nobody will know that unless they get the microscope out! I'm guessing anyway it's the style you love (the name would be a bonus) but you want the style more than the name?

Hi Meeshoo
Yes some of the American sellers said they would declare less for me. So are the American ones I put in my thread genuine? how do you know? I know most of the silver Tiffany on ebay is fake but I thought the platinum was maybe genuine as the expense of faking platinum and diamonds?

Even if something is stamped Platinum, it doesn't mean it is unfortunately. Lots of the silver fake Tiffany stuff has a silver mark but it's actually just a base metal. So you need to use extreme caution. I wouldn't necessarily look at the feedback for these vendors. Certainly one of them (the first link) I know had a previous Ebay store.

If you are concerned about getting a fake then you're taking a big risk buying from Ebay. Potentially you're spending a lot of money that you may not get back.

My advice is not to pay the stupid prices that Tiffany prices command when you could get a DBTY necklace of much higher quality and for far less (the Tiffany craftmanship isn't always up to scratch). Look here http://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-pendants/whiteflash-by-the-yard-diamond-necklace-449.htm These people are specialist diamond dealers and make phenomenal jewellery. If you look at their home page you'll see a pink Mahenge pear ring - that belongs to my friend - isn't it sensational?

If your heart is set on a Tiffany piece then give these people a call http://www.signedpieces.com/home.cfm they're in the US but they specialise in designer pre-loved pieces.

Thanks for the link to Whiteflash site Meesh, just been having a nosy round, but I can't see the mahenge ring you mention....doh!

I see that their 0.50ct necklaces have 7 diamonds and the .75ct ones have 14 smaller ones. Hmmm.
I notice that you recommend Cherub to check out some US jewellers for the DBTY necklaces, is this because the jewellers here don't really create this type of thing....except perhaps ones like D Geezer?

Good luck in your quest Cherub, let us know how you go on.
xxx for Morgan

I'll give Morgan your kisses. I did an update on him a few weeks ago in the all about us thread if you want to see how hes grown x
