Another good thing to do is buy some PVA glue (like you used to use at school) and paint a layer on first. It does no damage to the nail and then when you're ready to take the glitter off, just peel the edge with an orange stick and voila the whole thing will just come off. No scrubbing (or using foil) to remove pesky glitter.
