Isn't learning fun? Seriously I do have to admit that sometimes, if you are using something in speech, it's perfectly OK to do it the other way - it's just not grammatically correct that's all.
Comparing something green with something clear is, however, not!
 
Nicky-J is spot on - it's all to do with subjects and objects of verbs.

That would have been a much quicker way of putting it!
I had a friend, who is now a head of English and teaching A Levels, and she always got these things wrong (including apostrophes!). I am hoping that since leaving school she has learned how to do it!

All this correcting people's English had made me realise that I am just as bad at Maths - just awful at it, so I probably can't talk!
