A presenter was wearing a jumper with the word 'Lush' printed across the chest. To Americans, this is a slang word for an alcoholic. Denim & Co was showing a t shirt with 'Beach Bum' printed on the front. That's someone who hangs out on the beach most of the time and has nothing to do with a person's anatomy. Some of these words printed on t shirts just don't translate well on either side of the Atlantic.
 
I remember another US brand ambassador saying an outfit would be suitable for an affair. She meant a smart event with a dress code, and was covered in confusion when the presenter clarified for viewers as such.
Yes, our transatlantic cousins do use some terms very differently to us!
Rule of thumb: if you have to explain it in some way, it's best to choose other words!
