If anyone said that in my office they'd be subject to disciplinary action. In fact at the department Christmas party last year somebody said something inappropriate and was immediately suspended, and subsequently sacked. I work for the civil service and it was classed as still being on duty.

PS can't deny it as it was said on camera, I doubt if anyone would bother making a 'deep fake' video of him!

His ‘banter’ is completely out of place in the society of today. Now, I generally loathe the woke-ridden society of today, but I equally dislike men in their sixties wheeling out the sort of repartee you‘d have got stick from Colin Crompton for using on stage at The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club in 1975. He gets away with it because of the very nature of shopping television of this type, with an older to elderly audience more used to hearing jokes about slipping up the back passage and you’ve lost - drop your trousers, end of a very rotten pier show act‘s gags. If I was working there and he used me as a press-ganged stooge for one of his wretched double-meanings, I’d tell him to go fu…himself, but I assume these floor people are young and want to get a foot on the ladder on television. If Simon is seen as some sort of great asset and seller by the management, you’d go along with his ‘humour’ wouldn’t you?

In spite of the 1950's calling and asking him to go back, he's been getting away with this for years - there were posts on here years ago where posters were aghast at what he'd said on screen at IW so he has form for this kind of behaviour. What always amazed me was that he'd often say dubious things before the watershed, but there never seemed to be any comebacks and it was repeato ditto the following evening. You can only wonder why he's not been reprimanded for his 'hilarious' humour. He was always telling everyone about his long and illustrious experience on television and I would have thought he was older than 60, he seems to have been around forever.
