Were you one of the people who bought that ice-scraper / brush RJ and Craig Rowe were demonstrating this morning? (Here is the link to the OVERPRICED QVC version:

Re: that telescopic ice-scraper / snow brush RJ was showing this morning @ £11+, here is the same product for a tad over a fiver!

I do like Eckmans as I'm a big fan of gadgets. They do some good motoring accessories.

I got something similar in Aldi last week for £3. I already have a scraper which looks better than the new one but I wanted the brush for getting snow off the roof, bonnet and lights on my car.

Loking on the bright side now I've got this we probably won't get snow.

During this morning's demo they were saying it's a legal requirement to clear snow from the roof of your car! I really don't think it is! So long as the windscreen, windows and mirrors are clear one should be fine. Don't forget it's time to check your screenwash. Here's a tip... Lidl do an excellent screenwash that is about £6 for 5 litres. It protects to -60c so you can dilute it even in winter as UK seldom drops below -10c. This is the BEST screenwash out there!

That and the £4 stainless steel / plastic scraper from Asda and some de-icer spray from the Pound Shop and you're sorted for the winter!

I just keep a dustpan and brush in the car - brush for sweeping off the soft snow and the dustpan to get rid of the deeper piles on the car. Bought from Betterware a few years back now.

Bought these last year for family members and promptly insisted Q send courier to collect them as they were awful, scraper very sharp would have damaged windscreen and the bristles of brush would have scratched paintwork of car!!!

You can get fined and given penalty points for not clearing your car properly, including snow on roof etc....

My car is garaged most of the time so it should be fine. Got the de-icing trigger spray from Pound Shop and Asda stainless steel scraper.

99% of what QVC sell you'll find a lot cheaper elsewhere, it's obviously die hard fans and people who don't have the Internet that are keeping them afloat, found one even cheaper. http://www.gearbest.com/other-tools/pp_260219.html?currency=GBP&gclid=CMvZ3-Lat8kCFaEewwodUbIOTA

You're right, Shopper. I guess that's why they are constantly banging on about tapping the app with that annoying advert: "Browse! Watch! Shop!" with that annoying voice-over!

That brush / scraper looks perfectly adequate. It's not quite the same as the QVC / Eckmans one as it doesn't have a swivel head - but who cares about that anyway?!

What's even funnier is, you can get in your car five minutes earlier and turn the heater on and melt the lot..........that's free.

I always start my car 15 minutes before I drive it.:mysmilie_17:

I start my car and wait for the RPM to go down to 1100 before driving off. It has automatic choke :( If it's very cold I wait a little longer. Have also put a Slick 50 treatment in the engine, which funnily enough I learned about on QVC many years ago. Also I set the heater setting to the middle as it's not good to blast a screen with hot air. I want to look after my vehicle. I'm not someone who just turns the key and sets off immediately, but I know how annoying it is to have cars idling outside. If ever I need to scrape ice off I would always have the engine idling for the few mins whilst I do this, thereby using my time productively. Have just got some new Lidl screenwash as I hate the thought of running out of screenwash or having the jets freeze up. My vehicle doesn't seem to take long to get up to operating temperature. Usually about 10 mins tops.

I believe AA, RAC and police have said that snow must be cleared to stop it blowing off on cleared roads. Plus it is not safe if it blows off and into the face of cyclist or motorcyclist.

Or the windscreen of another car! Our reactions are generally quite slow and having to put on the windscreen wipers suddenly probably takes 3 seconds!

Hmm I've never thought about it that much. I've driven through Lithuania in about -27c and seen a fair few snow-capped vehicles. I only recall driving in the UK in snow twice. Once I was going to East Grinstead and my washer jets froze :( but I was stupid and had only put water in :( Even in this country now I put in a proper screenwash.

I had one of these brush scrapers.
The brush is ok for soft snow on the roof but the ice scraper part was crap for me. No matter what car I have had I can never reach the middle of the windscreen so thought this would be the solution, the only problem is I couldn't get any pressure in the right place to have much of an impact. It worked on the side and rear windows but I wrote it off as a gimmick.

I also had scratches on my glass which I put down to the brush as is was quite stiff.

I had a laminated A4 poster in my car when I caught caught out by snow. The laminated poster was the best thing for shifting about 4 inches of snow off my car!
