that is actually something that is making me think. QVC are full of "favourite chanel" "best value ect" and yet they have second (or dare I say third rate)"specialists", which a little google will tell you have failed elsewhere - or indeed usually hired actors showing us their quality value items and giving "expert" advice.
Where does that leave their integrity?
Or do I really have to stop being so naive as to think QVC has any left?

At the end of the day it is QVC we should all be complaining to. They let him stand there with a stupid grin on his face, hands in pockets playing with his dibber and spouting totally exaggerated claims about the products. His presentation hasn't changed in all the years I've been watching.

Do you think he actually knows his stuff but is quite happy to give us all this carp anyway, or he is totally ignorant that it is carp and so just repeats what he hears through his earpiece ?

I was watching him on the repeat hour this morning banging on about pollen-less lilies and that its good they have no pollen as it isn't very nice when it gets on the petals or on your tablecloth blah, blah, blah.

However, no mention that these lilies would be a good buy if you are a cat owner as lily pollen is poisonous to cats. That really hisses me off. Why does he never mention this?

It really makes my blood boil the odious little gnome:angry:

Catkins, I understand that it ALL PARTS of the lily are toxic to cats, not just the pollen.

I've had my lilies a few years now and keep them in pots near the back of the borders. Difficult though as my 2yr old ASBO Twins are into everything!

The sad thing is that he does know his stuff. He used to be the gardening expert on LBC radio for many years and used to run the big garden centre at Alexandra Palace where he used to be great to talk to and give advice. I don't know where it all went wrong, as I can't stand him on QVC.:wonder:

I'll admit to having bought about 5 types of plants from QVC in the past, as I moved into a house where the garden was just mud and weeds. I've had varying success with some pinks and the begonia corms didn't come to much, but the other plants have done well. I went on what I wanted/liked the look of, not what Richard said. However, since becoming more 'garden savvy' (thanks to this forum's posts about plants that cost over the odds) I have now filled the garden with cuttings from friends and perennials from garden centres and places like Homebase etc.

I didn't know that lilies were poisonous to cats until I read about it here. I don't have any lilies, not do I have any cats but a plethera of neighbouring cats frequent the garden (mainly to keep an eye on the resident squirrels and birds) and I'd hate to think that any of them could be poisoned by anything.

I watched the presentation on the lilies last night and yet again nothing was said about how dangerous they are. I nearly rang in to say how pleased I'd been with previous purchases but that, although I loved the lilies, I'd not get any because they are poisonous to cats. To be honest, the next time lilies are highlighted on one of his programmes I probably will ring in ......... well, there's a first time for everything.

And if I do get through to the studio, I wonder how long the 'chat' will last before they pull the plug once I mention cats.

He use to be bearable, but I totally agree that he has become soooooooo annoying, along with julian and Craig.
In fact, there seems to be a general dullness to the QVC presenters at the moment. Bring back Paul Lavers.
