Would someone care to explain why the Northern Nights guest presenters insist on stroking the bedding??! How many of us crawl into bed and spend ten minutes stroking the sheets/duvets/pillows in such a fashion other than to perhaps get rid of the creases because, despite what they say, it definitely needs ironing!!!

If Qvc sold mouse traps would they stroke them to show what they can do?

I Think Not.

I agree it is very off-putting watching people stroking bedding.
Any way i'm off to sleep in mine. :)

Good night.

I adore my Northern Nights bedding , especially the flannel that I discovered only a few weeks ago !!
Although I don't sit stroking it I probably would if I was a presenter on TV !!!

I watched it at 11 o'clock last night and thought exactly the same. They had a one time only and the guest was holding the pillow and stroking it like you would a cat. Ridiculous.

its a selling technique.there's some theory that if you're in a shop and you pick something up you're 80% (or something) more likely to buy it. that's why shops lay products out in a way that invites you to touch.

you cant touch things on the telly so they have the presenter do it for you. theyre trying to make a perceived physical connection between you and the product, so you buy it.

true.

I'm also not a fan of the bedding stroking and I also find it very offputting when they get into the bed and pull the duvet up. I'm sure they only want to convey how snuggly/soft/cosy it is but I'd much prefer they just tell me

We call her The Poker. I understand the idea of making that physical connection with an item you can't actually touch yourself, but the problem is that she just doesn't stop. You wouldn't go into a shop, grab a feather bed and then poke the life out of it. Maybe she's expecting a genie? I just can't watch. I find it so annoying I have to turn her off.

looks quite pornographic if done by a certain presenter.....yuck

I noted this a couple of months ago with some nylon leopard print type bedding which was the sleaziest looking thing I've ever seem on shopping tv. Can't remember the presenter although it was a man.
