Totaly agree!!

I'm not knocking crystals or Moissanite per se, I think they have their place and I can understand that people would want to buy them. What saddens me is that a jewellery channel who used to boast that it never sold fakes, only genuine gemstones, has changed so much. Mind you, their diamonds have never really been top notch quality and I would rather have no diamonds at all than horrible little grey stones.

I Totaly agree with you on that Jacqualina!:1:
should go nice with their handbags and scarves!!!!:54:

Every time I flick over to Gems they're waving bits of moissanite at us, and I think I must have been hypnotised 'cos now I NEED it. Me eyes 'ave been dazzled and I can't afford it. Please help bring me out of it. A good slappin' might do it.

Don't you dare say nuffink Klos! Stuff like "I told you so" ain't nice. <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D10%252F10%255F1%255F116%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_116.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D10%252F10_1_116%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

What are the prices like Klos, do they compare with what you paid for your ring?

USW3969 on just now selling for £399 when it is priced at £485 on Moissanite Me website. They have a workshop in the Birmingham jewellery quarter and from whom I bought my five stone ring.......Jacqualina. I think some pieces are exclusive to Gems.

Also mine came with a velvet pouch and a fabric shopping bag and beautifully boxed.....which you can see on telly.

What are the prices like Klos, do they compare with what you paid for your ring?

The prices are typical for the UK Jacqualina but I think Charles and Colvard pretty much dictate the selling prices here. I bought mine from the USA where the prices are considerably lower but the exchange rate was almost $2 to the £ at that time. Even with the duty I had to pay which was basically the VAT, I was still around 40-50% cheaper than if I'd bought here.

Just saw a 1 Carat Solitaire in White Gold on Gems for £699. The same ring exactly except in 14 carat gold instead of 18 carat, is $481.50 which converts to £302.13. If you add the VAT it's still half the price!

I texted and e-mailed to ask them (Gems TV) to show the moissanite under day-light conditions, as I know they have that light source which they use to show off their jewellery. There was no acknowledgement of my text or e-mail and I noted they never once showed it under natural daylight using the light they have :33:. Why? I have been looking on the internet and it was mentioned that it doesn't look like a diamond in that it is not 'colourless', it is has either a grey or green tinge. It also says that they look a lot duller in sunlight than a diamond. I'd be interested to know if those who own Moissanite would agree.

Here's the link I was looking at, they would 'dis' Moissanite as they are also selling a fake stone so I don't know whether to believe it or not.

:Hiya: Huggles

I mentioned in my previous post "The only time it doesn't look as good as a diamond is outside whereas under a lot of different types of lighting it looks like the best diamond money could buy!" However I wouldn't take anything from what Nexus Labs say as they are only dissing Moissanite because they make a Diamond lookalike themselves which, like every other created diamond, is no competition whatsoever to Moissanite.

With regards to the Green or Grey tinge - I've never ever seen that in my Moissanite. I've never seen mine under Pink lights that they claim Jewellers use to sell them, but under any normal indoor lights it looks fabulous.

Again, all I can say is you have to see it IRL to make your own mind up.

Oh and Twinny (Tabs), if I could find glass that looked like Moissanite I'd be a multi milionaire by now!!

Well Klos I never considered buying Moissanite before but tonight my curiosity got the better of me and I ordered 2 rings and I'm very impatient now to see them irl. :33: :pPC:

Thanks Sacha and Klos for your replies. The stones did indeed look beautiful last night, but the only reason I would buy one would be to wear on holiday so I don't have to take my real ring. If it's not quite as good in sunlight, that rather defeats the object of the exercise!
The one I really couldn't understand was the 3.5 carat stone at the end which was sold for nearly £1,700. How many of us could pull off a 3.5 carat diamond solitaire ring as real? I know I couldn't and that makes it look like an obvious fake and £1,700 is an awful lot to pay for a fake. For me, a 1 or 1.5 carat ring would be the maximum to be able to get away with it.

My thoughts exactly Jacqualina. :pPC:

My fingers swell like mad in this heat so I got my 1ct moissanite solitaire to wear through the Summer when my platinum engagement ring gets too uncomfortable. It's just gorgeous and the sparkle you get when under artificial lighting is amazing. It looks cracking in Tescos lol. Like Klos I got mine from a supplier in New York and as she said, even with import and VAT it was still half the price of UK sellers

With apologies for the less than wonderful photography..

I really hope your new rings turn out to be fabulous Sue.

Thanks also for your post Siren, very interesting to hear about your piece and that you got a great deal from NYC also. :53:

I've found that Moissanite loves the sun just as much as diamonds do.

Three pics of rings below, one has VS colour F diamonds, one is Moissanite and the third just for interest is one of the new 100 facet Diamonique rings from QVC's premier day....yep I had ultra quick delivery! :D

Okay folk........see for yourselves......which is which of the first two? :33:

I cancelled the order last night Sacha. I phoned CS yesterday evening when I saw this 15% pay day discount thing had started again and asked if I could cancel this order and rebuy them at the same price they sold for and add to an existing order that I'd just placed, so that I could take advantage of the discount. They said no so I cancelled the order. Why are they so fookin inflexible?? :HUMP: I'll watch the Mossie hour on Sunday evening to see if they are on and if the price is the same I'll buy them and get the discount that way, but I'm wary that they will have upped all the prices anyway because of the discount. I'll report back on here if that's the case.

Oh and btw even though Moissanite is featured in GEMS Shop they won't give a personal shopper price. :pPC:

You're doing the right thing Sue, first I heard of the 15% discount was yesterday! Think your choices of rings though are lovely,
I'd made a note of some of the pieces and and against your YG ring I'd written 'Very Nice'! I missed noting down the
cushion cut but thought it very unusual and stylish.

Hopefully they will keep to the same prices as Friday....note to Gems.....I wrote down many of the prices!! :1: So good luck on Sunday and fingers crossed Sue. :)

Cheers Sacha for this post and your very informative pm. :Mrs James: I've noted your comments about the website you mentioned :54: and I shall also be watching Sunday's Mossie prices very carefully. :10: :pPC:
