Now I do like that! What a totally crackers price tag though. It's about time Gems brought their shop into the land of the living and perhaps they'd boost their sales. Thanks Fluff, that reduced the huffing and puffing considerably. xxx

PS - Just in case anyone has the same prob, I didn't get the still but the video worked.

My pleasure .... couldn't have you huffing and puffing!

The "still" picture for this ring is no longer available .... the same for a lot of pieces in my order history. But using a little "trick" that Meesh explained ages ago it is possible to see the 3D view for most of them.
I bought it in a live auction just over 2 years ago and it was £167 ... a lot of money in those days. :giggle:

Yeah, for me too.
Thanks, Fluff......simple style, smart and to the point!

Thank you Mathilda, most of my ring are small and simple in design .... a bit like me I suppose!

Don't believe what you read. You can only generalise on price per carat of any gemstone because it will depend on cut, clarity, carat weight and, for Zultanite (Diaspore) the strength of colour shift. For example, a 5ct stone with great colour shift will command a far higher price per carat than a 5ct stone with very little colour shift.

There are very few gemstones (leaving aside diamonds) that can command the amount per carat you've quoted. There ARE some but Zultanite isn't one of them. It's not rare. It is sold via a limited number of distributors though and this keeps the price up to buy (like diamonds) BUT it's resale is low, unlike diamonds.

Here's a 4.64ct Zultanite set into a ring that has wonderful colour shift and clarity. How much did it cost as a loose gemstone? £200.

I did not understand ... the purchase price is high but then the resale price will be lower? But why on the ICA website they say that it is a very rare stone, More rare that tanzanite?

This should give you an indication of how "rare" it is!!!!! You need to decide how much you think it's worth and whether you want to pay that or not. When you're searching the internet, search for "Diaspore" as well as Zultanite. At the end of the day, you need to decide if you think it's rare - but please bear in mind Bixbite is rare, is Zultanite? Many many gemstones are marketed as rare. You need to decide the definition of rare and how it's applied.

http://www.curiousnotions.com/gemstones/ To put this article into perspective, there are at least 4 or 5 collectors who post on this forum who have many of these "rare" gemstones listed.

In terms of value, there are many coloured gemstones that command a far higher price than Tanzanite or Zultanite e.g. Alexandrite, Demantoid Garnet, some of the top quality Rubies and Sapphires, Benitoite, Taaffeite.

Wazabi I'm not interested in debating this - if you believe that Zultanite is worth $5k per carat then I wish you luck. Perhaps you should take any stone you purchase/have to the Assay office valuation service, Safeguard. They are independent.

I see you are not based in the UK which probably explains why you believe that Zultanite is worth more than you think. Try posting your question on pricescope.com which is a worldwide forum - there are many coloured stone enthusiasts on there and I'm sure they will give you similar advice.
