Well, I've decided to keep my demantoid garnet ring after all but first I called Gems TV to find out a bit more about the diamonds in the ring. I was told over the phone that they were S1 and SI1 grading (there are two sizes of diamond in the ring but she couldn't tell me which had which grading). But I can't find any mention anywhere of an S1 (one) diamond grade - only SI (i). What is an S1 grade? And what's the difference between S1 and SI1?

I think the person you spoke to may have been confused they must be SI (slightly included) and perhaps she meant SI1 as in slightly included 1 maybe colour i?
There is no such grading as S1?
Anyway if they are nice little sparklers don't let it worry you just enjoy them as i'm sure they are SI x

Hi GC, she definitely said one lot were S1 and the others were SI1, and that they were colourless (she didn't give me the grading letter). Maybe she meant some were SI and the others SI1? They do sparkle a lot and they do look good quality, clear diamonds.
