By the way, has anyone actually looked at the Retreats For You website? I don't know if it has been discussed on another thread but I was quite surprised that the price per night is not higher (I won't say how much here for now in case you want to guess first). The price includes all food and refreshments, toiletries (I think) and laundry. I suppose it's a bit of a niche thing so they weren't going to charge London prices.

I note the invitation: "as a working writer, I am happy to offer constructive criticism on your work" - I wonder if that's a two-way thing?

I thought this was a brand new thing but there are LOADS of testimonials. When did it start?

It looks like it used to be owned/run by a Deborah Dooley (so she could be the Deb/Deborah referred to in the testimonials) and on her Twitter page she made the announcement below about Flinty coming on board in mid-October. So all very recent. She describes her as a new business partner, "helping out for half the week" so she (Dooley) can gradually step back. Maybe 'Rob' is more connected to former owner.

The Retreat company is in the process of being struck off according to Companies House, let's hope she knows what she is doing.

I see, she is Deborah Mark 2 and the testimonials relate to Deborah Mark 1! That clears that up, thank you.

Isn't Del Boy a qualified accountant? So she should know a good investment from a bad one! Presumably she did a thorough examination of the books....

Yes, as is often said on here, she is a very canny businesswoman. No doubt the Devon venture will make her money, one way or another.

I was reading on the internet on a completely unrelated topic and came across some articles about DF and the fact that she,Paul Lavers and the late Steve Whatley basically began Ideal World.I expect many of you already knew this but although I heard about Paul Lavers' involvement I didn't realise DF and SW were also partners. She has also presented on Bid . Definitely been around.

This is a rather tongue in cheek extract!!

DF was with Ideal World at the beginning, but don't hold that against them, and it was funny because I remember her slagging off QVC at almost every available opportunity, the thing was though, they didn't like her at Ideal World, the bosses couldn't stand her (shock! :mysmilie_17:) so she was left/pushed and voila! for her, all of a sudden she must've thought that QVC wasn't so bad after all. :mysmilie_15:

I believe this has been mentioned on here but a year or two ago - or could have been when Paul Lavers was spotted in the Haribo TV ads? Someone better informed can probably fill us in, but didn't Debbie leave under a cloud, both when she left QVC to go to IW and when she left IW again? Sorry, I don't remember the ins and outs of it.
