I have posted before about my menopause, thought I was taking it mid 40s? Er, no, said doctor overactive thyroid. Around 55 I did start proper menopause and feeling hot for about 30 seconds, now I was angry a lot but hell I have always been do not annoy me sort of person. Doctor said I did not need HRT, even the woman in Holland and Barrett said I did not need the famous Black something herbal treatment that so many women take. Now as someone who always had very heavy periods from around 11 when I started periods, I had to use a super plus Tampax and pads which had to be changed every few hours for the first 3 days. I was so happy they stopped!

I knew a few women even on HRT had horrific night sweats and had to change the bed in the middle of the night. Not only that, but I doubt QVC wonder products in the Tili box would do dick sh*t for them.

I had a hysterectomy and ovaries removed and gyne put me straight onto HRT and it has really helped me. Never really suffered from hot flushes more so brain fog and mood ect each to their own but I think it has made a huge difference to my health. A lot of people are using menopause to sell products which is wrong even younger women starting HRT early because so called experts like Davina McCall have told them too which caused major shortages.

Of course every woman experiences menopause differently and QVC are blatantly commercialising it to make a profit. I want more discussion of menopause in the workplace. When I was flooding, I could not just leave my classroom to get to loo, 5 minutes away, it was double pads and don’t stand up! I remember having to be abrupt with students who stayed at end of lesson to discuss something so I could get to loo in the ten minute break. I was late for duty and questioned about it. I said, I could be late or stand there and the next two hours with blood pouring down my legs. My mother’s and grandmother’s generations did not have to work full time when going through the change. If employers want to retain their experienced female workers, they need to adapt to and recognise the changing needs of some women. It is no joke having brain fog or hot flushes when trying to teach 32 teenagers of mixed genders about Shakespeare’s use of spondee instead of iambs in Macbeth‘s speech.

Is it just me or have I not had the menopause yet or have I had it and not noticed? I'm pushing 60, I get hot, irritable, fattish, but it's not unbelievably life changing or making me believe I'm on a journey that only Davina/QVC/many other celebrities can help me with. Maybe I'm lucky but HRT has never even crossed my mind and I certainly don't need to spend extra money to help me deal with it. Nor do I need sympathetic talks from folks on TV trying to sell me something.

I truly sympathise with anyone that has an awful time but I don't agree with making menopause into a money making exercise.

Apart from some really heavy periods towards the end and the dreaded vaginal dryness I wouohave noticed.

I know many who have told me of horrendous night sweats though.

I can honestly say I don't know whether I've had the M or not. I do have hot nights though. Haven't had periods for 30 years but I thought that was just the pill etc. I do sympathise with folks that are having a horrible time though.

That just sounds awful. Hugs and more hugs to you and I hope everything improves.

I was like that after years of gyne visits and trying everything ended up having my hysterectomy. Best thing ever for me and wish they had offered it to me years earlier.

Poor you but I am glad it worked for you. I am now four years period free and happily retired. I probably would have worked longer if there had been sympathetic menopausal work practices. If govt want women to work, need to address issues such as childcare. Working practices set up for men, by men.
Back to qvc, I do not see the benefits of their products. Not on HRT, not offered to me, mum died prematurely of breast cancer, took my usual superdrug daily vitamins and skincare.
