"Who is not happy with the "old" chit/chat room Idea

John explained that the presenter will interact with the jewellery related stuff, and that the presenters were finding that more difficult with all other chat going on.

Not at all.Look at Jamie today for instance, normally he will have banter with the buyers but today he was at a loss for what to do as he and the others have obviously been told Not too.

The simple answer is a moderator in a room, not a programme that takes out words but a real person, let the presenters do what they know best the way it was.

For requests, live help is there for that or as another poster said a request button on the site

Why did rocks decide to have a change over the Easter weekend when they knew that no-one on the management side of things would be on hand to answer our concerns etc .this was planned in advance in my opinion by them to give everyone the best part of a week to get used to the change without anyone being around to sort out any questions etc in the hopes that peeps would except this once we got used to it
By the way i did think this was funny i logged on quite late on Thusday evening so was unaware of the new set up but when i entered the chat someone called harry had just said hello to everyone and said hope everyone is fine like you do so i replied hello Harry just to have my chat moved to the chit chat but Harrys hello stayed where it was lol so when i switched rooms to see what was going on there was my hello Harry but no harry i found this quite amusing why was mine moved and his was'nt crazy

I agree with many other posters that implementing this major change over the Easter break was an ill-thought and knee jerk type of reaction.

I don't like it personally but can appreciate that the presenters will have had difficulty answering jewellery related questions, which often got "lost" amongst the other banter. This new 2 chat room system does breakdown the fun / interaction with the presenters. We have all come to feel as though we know them and Rocks had much more of a community atmosphere and the new system has put a virtual fence up between us.

I agree with Meeshoo's suggestion regarding an on-screen requests button. I emailed the same suggestion to Steve myself several months ago. I received a reply from Steve, saying that this was something they were already working on and I should keep my eyes open in a week or two. However, no such function ever materialized. Another suggestion I made, was a sort of top 10 requests show. People should use a request button and once or twice a week, perhaps a top 10 requests hour could take place. That way, at least some customers would have the opportunity to buy popular items. it need not be limited to a top 10, it could be a general requests spot. I am sure you all understand my point.

As for the constant requesting in the chat room. Requests not sent via the help team, or whatever system was in place, I feel should be ignored totally. The presenters asked us not to request via the chat box but many continued to shout requests. Then, their bad behaviour was often rewarded by their requested items being aired. We don't reward our children's bad behaviour by giving them what they want, at least I never did!

Well, that is my own take on the subject. There is so much more I could say but I think I will leave it there. I agree with so many of your previous comments (on both sides of the fence). I hope that my words have not offended anybody personally as this was never my intention.

Couldnt agree more with this if i tried.i was gonna do the Rock Advisor thing but until Rocks listen too the people that keep them in buisness then im gonna wait and see what thier next move is.

I have just caught up with the news. Pearly Queen, I totally agree with you. I dropped into both chat rooms yesterday. The behaviour was just like a child throwing a tantrum/baby throwing toys out of the pram. The reason was simply because a company decides to change their chat policy!! When I read that some of these people were teachers, I could not believe it. The whole episode and conduct last night was really so childish.
If you love the jewellery, you'll be back. If not, you will be the loser. Sorry, but the company has to think about past and NEW customers.

nothing to do with the chat rooms

:1:CottontTail Thanks for your post and opinion...

You say you popped into both chat rooms to find what you say were..
"Baby tantrums", then you really do not know the full story...
as what you say you witnessed was nothing to do with this thread that I started about the "Old" two chat rooms Idea being back...

What you witnessed was about something else entirely, someone was being goaded and made to be so upset they became ill.

As for we will be the losers, and we'll be back if we love the jewelery comment....We can get jewelery from where ever we choose to go for it
not just rocks....

Rocks has got as far as it has since it launched in July last year, with the aid of its early chatters and buyers, and suddenly seem to have forgotton that we were the ones who helped put them on the map.
It's not my intention to offend or hurt anyone's feelings, as we all differ with our opinions, and apologise in advance if I have.

if rocks tv have tried the 2 chat rooms thing in the past, that doesn't mean it won't work this time round. Somethimes things work out better when you try them a second time. I honestly don't see how rocks tv haveing 2 chat rooms instead of one means they have forgotten their original customers. Yes, the prob should have given the regulars warning, but businesses do change and expand etc and i don't think they are trying to snub their regulars.
I imagine when they first started, they prob only had a small number of customers, and whilst they prob do want to keep them happy, they also need to appeal to new customers as well or they surely couldn't survive.

just had a read of rocks tv chat, and i may be wrong, but from what i read there seems to be a few people on there causing tension. It is a shame as it spoils it for everyone else on there chatting trying to have fun. I read sarah bennett asking them to keep in civil!

Earlier on the people in chat 2 were calling those in chat 1 "golden gang" - that just smacks of childishness and devisiveness. It looked to me - and I haven't visited Rocks for ages - that the two rooms were "us" and "them". Pathetic? Yes, most definitely.

now there are 2 chat rooms to stir up a hornest's nest

Thanks for your post and opinion gemdreamer...
Yes you saw correct...but I suspect what you didnt see was the start of it.. the 2 chat rooms brought back supposedly and specificaly to avoid this kind of confrontation, one room for jewelery chat and one for general chat...

"what a laugh the abusers and stirrers can now flit from room to room to stir up a hornets nest again, and intervene into chit chat thats nothing to do with them, and they assuming and claiming it is...how many rooms do they want to stir up ill feelings.
so who knows what the solution is now! Anyone!!!?

I can't believe that adults can behave this way. I will still watch Rocks from time to time but after last night I won't be turning on chat. At least there's that option.

No, i didn't see what started this Mirabelle, just popped in for 10 mins earlier to read the chat. Perhaps rocks tv now need to ban the few people that are causing the trouble, surely there must be a way they can cancel these peoples accounts? If i noticed it was just a few people causing probs, and i was only there for a short period of time, then surely rocks tv staff have noticed too?

I agree totally petpixie, perhaps they arn't adults, maybe there kids messing about?

What a shame that a perfectly valid gripe has been reduced and devalued like this. As you rightly say Meesh and others, it is becoming increasingly childish and very sad. How on earth can Rocks take a genuine gripe seriously when there are twits bringing it down to this level and, as is usually the case, it is they that stand out the most thus making everyone look stupid.

Herumph!

Sadly they were not kids,I wish that was the case tbh.

The comments I personally witnessed this evening were disgraceful and totally out of order, done with the sole intention of being antagonistic.

If there are chatters who do not get on for whatever reason then just ignore them, the same as in life, there is absolutely no need to be purposefully nasty, however 'justified' you think it is.

For the good of the whole Rocks community I would ask that it stop.

To throw in a couple of cliches:

2 wrongs don't make a right and if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

I couldn't agree more!

I couldnt agree more...unfortunately it is one person who lurks mostly and loves to leap in to cause a spat , and who has now gathered a few back up friends...
I do hope Rocks spots the right person/persons to ban if they do go down that road, it's a shame but something drastic needs to be done.
I feel I've exhausted my point of view now, re the bringing back of 2 rooms, it's caused nothing but trouble and ill feeling because now the cyber bullies and abusers have the 2 rooms to play their mind games in...just as I suspected would happen.:11:
so I will leave it now, and say good luck Steve John and Sarah!:41:

Mirabelle.

Well ive certainly had enough of it all afterwhat ive seen tonight quite shameful really the behaviour of a few doesnt make for pleasant viewing at all and it needs to stop once and for all ,there's enough grief and aggro in the world and i dont want to experience it in what should be a social chill out place with the main object is to buy bling and have a natter and get along i feel that my time there is not going to be for much longer [once i can get into my basket to checkout!!!!]since the secondchat room ive had so many tecchie probs its not funny ,didnthave this many wen it first started exasperating its been allround.....

I so agree with most of your post ballerina. The only bit I don't agree with is the suggestion of only having requests a few times a week - I think there is no reason why rolling requests can't continue with your other suggestions ie a request button, emails and Chat Live.

As an infant teacher and mother I so, so agree with not rewarding bad behaviour: giving children what they want when they stamp their feet and shout only teaches them to stamp their feet and shout more.

No wonder it sometimes seems that the chat room is nothing but a request service - and anything else is seen as getting in the way of those requests being dealt with asap.

Earlier on the people in chat 2 were calling those in chat 1 "golden gang" - that just smacks of childishness and devisiveness. It looked to me - and I haven't visited Rocks for ages - that the two rooms were "us" and "them". Pathetic? Yes, most definitely.

meshoo - not sure which is chat 1 or chat 2 viz-a-vis chat and chit chat - I did see the term 'golden gang' but I have no idea where it originated - I got the impression that those of us in chit chat had been referred to as such by some in chat - and had therefore decided to adopt it - but I could be mistaken
