I've got an Ashwood shoulder bag and the top coat of leather is very thin. I hope they've improved on this. No more for me.

I bought one myself and it was the biggest waste of money ever, and why I didn't return it is beyond me. I found the leather to be uneven in texture and tone, the strap didn't sit flat, the bag was too small to be of much great use (my fault for not reading the dimensions properly) but it looked bigger on screen. This problem was compounded by the fact that the magnetic fastening would pop open if you put anything more than about 3 items in it, and not only that when it was closed the flapover didn't sit completely straight! It cost me £45 which is a lot of money to spend on a crap bag. There might be some decent budget leather bag brands out there but Ashwood is not one of them!

I also bought an Ashford bag years ago, as a TSV. Jackie Joseph was the BA, going on about company being British, own tannery etc. Bag was utter rubbish, zip car too small, couldn't fit much in it. Leather was cheap. Label inside saying Made in India. Sent it back. Cheap rubbish.

It's a shame that Q cant seem to get a reasonable brand that does decent leather bags. A lot of their efforts seem over priced and not great quality

Lets face it for the prices Ashwood charges for leather, no wonder they are rubbish. I have never been tempted by them for that reason. I would rather pay a little extra and get a decent bag.

I don't dislike the style and quite like the denim blue but think there are better choices on the high street and as puffin48 says you may as well pay a bit extra and get a really decent one. I got a small leather bag in M&S in the December sales reduced down to £15 from £49. So that will do me

Perhaps someone on here can remember years ago there was a husband and wife team - he made some really soft quality leather bags. Her version was full of clunky hardware. I bought a beautiful white with palr blue and pink panels, it was gorgeous but sadly really heavy before anything went in it. Their name escapes me.
