Now I have never sworn on this forum but that is all about to change!

FFS Caroline Lindsay has to be the most fake person ever to be seen on a TV Shopping Channel!! She has just put on the most cringeworthy, pathetic performance I have ever seen and all over a Zambian Amethyst! Massive shreik and gasp of breath then "Oh I could cry" (me too you stupid fool!!), "I wanted one of these and Producer *** has found me one", "My hands are shaking with excitement" - well my hands are shaking too because I'd love to smack you one to knock some sense into you!

It's bad enough that she openly admits that she lied to the viewers when she worked for Gems TV but to carry on like this, she must think Rocks & Co viewers are a bunch of morons! She used to sit on Gems TV gasping, acting (very badly) and raving about the gems there but now she says things like "My Tanzanite is shut away and I won't wear it any more because it's not good quality. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago (from gems TV when I worked there!) when I didn't know you could get Tanzanite the colour we sell here" and only today when showing an Aquamarine ring she said "I want Aquamarine but I've never bought it before because until now it was always pale and pasty"!! So Miss "Prima Donna" Lindsay, you have ZERO credability and ZERO acting skills and obviously no scrupples whatsoever.

ps She's just had another Zambian Amethyst and did she jump about and have another orgasm?? No she's obviously forgotten how excited it made her only 5 minutes ago and suddenly gone off them!

She used to do a Channel 5 ad. One of those horrible financial things that prey on people in trouble making false claims about getting them out of debt, whereas they were in fact only make the debtor's situation worse, but feathering their own nests.

I'm very uncomfortable having personal goes at presenters, but this woman really is the pits. There are plenty I don't enjoy and who irritate the life out of me, but this one I loathe on a deep and personal level that makes me very uncomfortable with myself. Personally, I believe she is the mother of the presenting style we see on Gems and Rocks and is the only person I would actually wish to see lose their job.

Phew - don't feel any better though <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D23%252F23%255F29%255F19%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_29_19.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D23%252F23_29_19%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

Argey believe it or not (and I know it's hard) but I am the most easy going, friendly, fun loving, honest, caring person you could find!! I can't watch animal programmes even cartoons because I blubber if anything bad happens, I still cry at Officer and Gentleman and even shed a tear when Vera Duckworth kicked the bucket! I have been a manager for years and have been fortunate that all my staff/customers have thought well of me - probably because I'm a big softy. In my days in sales I could always go back to someone and sell to them again because I always told them the truth and treated them honestly and with 100% respect. However, when I watch some of these "presenters" acting very badly, shouting and bawling, trying to con people and treating the viewers as idiots and get paid for doing it, I turn into the female version of the incredible hulk! Only difference is that I go red instead of green and beat people up verbally instead of physically!

I take no pleasure out of bad mouthing presenters but I also take no pleasure out of seeing people being conned and cajouled into parting with their hard earned cash. We all have to work to earn a living and I work in a highly regulated industry which means the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth (NO I'm not Taggart!), but even if I didn't, there is no amount of money which would make me lie to my customers. These presenters chose to do that job and put themselves in a somewhat privileged position but that also means they are there to be praised/criticised like anyone in the media or spotlight. It goes with the job and they should know that.

So when I say I'm really a great big

KB there's no need to justify - in fact, I totally agree!

The problem is, us "oldies" - and I mean that in jewellery buying terms rather than age  have been around the block and know what we're seeing, understand the gemstones, appreciate pricing etc., sooooooo it's understandable when you get Caroline (and the other presenters) blatently treating us like idiots we respond with a written tirade.

Keep it coming hun because you're being honest. I sometimes wonder how many new jewellery buyers have been sucked in, then found this forum and become more knowledgeable because of this?

I take real pleasure when somebody says "you know what, I've just bought this BUT I know what I'm getting because of threads on this forum". I'm sure my posts ranting about cuts and gemstone treatments bore people to death too!

You know what Meeshoo? I am one of those people who was sucked in before finding ST.com! Firstly by QVC where I bought loads of pieces at exhorbitant prices and thought I was the bees knees because I had a Tanzanite! When I look at that pale lilac Tanzanite now I am so annoyed at being stupid! I have learned loads from you and others here and am so grateful that I found this forum, although I bet there's quite a few who wish I hadn't :giggle:

Your postings are superb and so educational. I for one have learned so much from you and am very grateful for the help and advice you've given me. So please keep the posts coming and I promise I'll keep pestering you when I need an informed opinion :cheeky:

I haven't written very much on these forums, but I am an avid reader, and have been watching, and buying gems since Gems tv started with Steve, all those years ago.

I just wanted to say a great big THANKYOU to you, Meesh, and all the other 'shoppers' who have given me so much information and increased my knowledge about gems and their attributes, cutting, etc etc.

Please don't stop giving us information, it has helped me from making some stupid mistakes and guided me along the right (hopefully) path.

I, too, cannot believe that the powers that be, from ALL the shopping channels, don't read this forum and take note regarding their presenters!!! Surely, too, the trading standards have laws which cover what presenters can and can't say about gems etc????

Thanks again to all those who are educating people like me about gems. :hi:

Don't ever stop, Klosblue and Meeshoo! Your posts are informative, friendly, educational and highly entertaining - what more could we ask?!?

I do agree with you, RubyRose.... but I do worry about KlosBlue's blood pressure !

:thinking2: Picture the scene.... Doctor: what sort of trauma brought on the stress attack, Ms KB?
KB: watching duff presenters on jewellery shopping channels ........

sorry to bring this back to top - or bounce so my hubs calls it but can I just say

ABOUT TIME TOO

always been able to see through this woman, and I thought it was just me

she has every piece, or would tell us the list of cousins, uncles, aunties etc that would want it. I want to scream

the way she tips her head to the side and looks like something from creature comforts is the best.

I think ROcks and Co presenters are on a BS bonus - the more dramatic, the bigger the cheque

thanks so much for bringing this up - i feel utterly vindicated

The only channel that really seems to have changed is TJC. Remember how they used to be and how they were constantly slated on this forum? Now most of their presenters are a pleasure to watch (admittedly some much more than others), calm and informative and their tanzanite is to die for.
I remember my excitement at my first tanzanite ring from Gems. I had just seen tanzanite for the first time at exorbitant prices in the Caribbean and had fallen in love with it. And then hey presto, there it was on Gems and I could actually afford it! Now when I look at that ring I can see that the tanzanite was actually a piece of sh**te, but I too have learned so much from this forum, in particular from Meesh, and long may it continue! Although I don't always post on threads, I read them all with great interest, so please keep posting ladies!

Good post Jacqualina. I totally agree with you. If TJC would only get their CS in order they'd be head and shoulders above the rest. I've always thought their quality was far superior and I really like the way they tell the viewers that it's "coated" topaz or "treated" coloured diamonds. They don't have a problem being honest and their new friendly, laid back approach to presenting is excellent. Recently they made an error on the price of a ring which they had just sold. They had 2 very similar rings but sold the lower carat weight at the higher price by mistake. They could have said nothing as obviously the person who bought it was quite happy with the price they paid, but they admitted their mistake and re auctioned it at the lower price having given the buyer plenty warning to get on the phone to make sure they got it again! Now that shows me that they do care about their customers.

They have really pushed the boat out with their range now too with something to suit every pocket, from lovely silver pieces with pretty sapphires in all colours through to (as you quite rightly say Jacqualina) Tanzanite to die for! Yep TJC have left the other two so far behind you need a telescope to see them!

Couldn't agree more, Klosblue! R&C sneer at 'other channels' for selling silver, but hello - some of us are very grateful to be able to purchase affordable and perfectly gorgeous items without bankrupting ourselves.

Couple of weeks ago I bought a ruby ring with two little tanzanite hearts, one on either side. I wasn't expecting much because I paid less than £17 for it. When it came I was amazed at how pretty it is, and the ruby is absolutely gorgeous. For £17!!! And this afternoon I've taken delivery of a multi-gem ring with garnet, fire opal, citrine, peridot, apatite, tanzanite, iolite and amethyst. £20! I think it's amazing to get all these gems in silver for £20, without having to pay a fortune for a gold setting.

Oh, and I took my 4ct loose tanzanite to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham last week to see about getting it set. I spoke to 5 different jewellers and every one of them was very impressed with the quality of the stone, and those cheeky enough to ask what I paid for it said I'd got it for a v good price indeed. (And not one of them sneered about the Jewellery Channel, to my surprise!)

I am very happy with tjc so far - my only problem is trying not to buy too much... And how I'm going to restrain myself from purchasing another expensive tanzanite item...

One of the jewellers (having said my stone was AAA minimum) mentioned that tanzanite can be too dark, as well as too light, to be classed as AAA+. My suspicion about R&C's tanzanite is that it is a little too DARK to be considered really top grade... Anyone else wonder about that?
