Help Support ShoppingTelly:

Food for thought V, and something that I hadn't realised.

On another tack, I always give my 'past their best' towels / throws to my local Vets who gratefully receive them for post op patients.
One of the charity shops which told me no because they didn`t want homeless people turning up asking for free clothes or shoes even refused when I said ok I understand that but how about I ask a staff member to come and collect some suitable items to keep in our stores and the guys we give them to would never know where they`d come from. I was told it was a jobs worth, all stock in the store was there to be sold not given, not even to help another charity.

I now donate my unwanted clothes to a local church that operates not only a food bank, but also gives clothes, bedding, curtains etc to the homeless, struggling families and the like. It's a vibrant community church that definitely gives back to the community what it can. Their cafe kitchen (which also serves the homeless) is where I donated a food mixer I mentioned in another thread a while ago.
