Did anyone see that silly moo Genpleaseleave selling Drill Bits earlier? She dressed down for authenticity.

Sadly that was the high point, she was desperate to interrupt and had this totally annoying habit of repeatedly saying 'hmm, yeah, yeah' as the demonstrater spoke, she just will not let anyone have too much 'limelight'. I loathe her.

Mind you, the idiot on with him now won't either. It's so tacky, they're playing the Mastermind music for some reason :mysmilie_59:

How apt that they are playing a track called Approaching Menace
- must be Peter or Mike is due on later :mysmilie_13:

Dirty Peter really is so very, very weird.

He's going on about 'Bet' at home ordering the plants and using his Credit Card which is 'going like the clappers now'.

It's only my opinion but I really do think he's touched, the man is quite disturbing. I genuinely would cross the road, and run, to avoid him.

This channel is becoming weirder and more desperate by the day :mysmilie_59:

If ever you do see him coming towards you in the street, cross over but if you can't never, I repeat never! make eye contact. :mysmilie_13:

He's a oddball, in my opinion. He's quite scary, really.

Another old Bid blast from the past is on now, Efbe Schott Steam Mops :mysmilie_59:

Wonder were all the other good shopping tv presenters are? They must've retired or got better tv jobs leaving the presenter dregs, known in the trade as ex "Bid Tv" presenters.

There's hardly any presenters at Ideal World right now, some of them have been doing 3 hour shifts just of late.

They must be on holiday :mysmilie_59:

That performance with PS and the demonstrater with the drill bits was was verging on being utterly stupid last night the guy doing the drilling saying i have never tried to break a drill on tv before will it go through all these different materials etc what a load of b******s and PS acting for an oscar i dont know what will happen i am a bag of nerves etc what a load of cArp you cant help but watch for the comedy value, i have been using drills for 40years it does make me chuckle.:mysmilie_19:

What a decidedly odd pairing it is with these two. I don’t know what’s more absurd: Peter Simon mincing around like a drama queen, feigning trepidation over a possible broken drill, or that caricature of a tradesman, who seems desperate for approval whilst feverishly drilling everything in sight. I get the impression that Peter (once he's calmed down) would love to give him a proper 'reward' for such a manly display.

Who knows what dynamics/hidden passions are being played out during this performance, but I suspect there’s a lot more going on than shifting a few drill bits:wink:

Our Bet has re-surfaced! There's me thinking she'd been locked....sorry, I mean she'd been away for a while. Something's telling me that Our Bet is something else he's copied from Larry Grayson (he used to talk about Slack Alice and Everard, if memory serves me right). Bizarre. The man really is stuck in a 1970's timewarp (or do I mean 1870's?).

It was absolutely pathetic, this channel really has lost it.

It's clear they really are struggling to fill an hour of airtime with only a few items but even worse they often have really, really boring, same as items that while I'm sure they're fit for purpose they don't exactly 'sing' to the punters.

It's obviously why they've dragged in the screaming, bullshitting Bid lot who would no doubt show their arses live on air if they thought it would get a sale, or a little bit of attention.

But these sparse, extrememy repetitive hours really show up the presenters lack of ability although in fairness to them providing light entertainment shouldn't be required from a Selly Telly goon but this channel is now straying into circus territory and the acts are more Bar Staff than Barnum.

I personally think it's on it's way out, certainly in it's current guise anyway, I have no doubt about that now. It's a shame but it seems they've finally run out of a sizable enough number of people to sell their small range of products to, hence the endless gimmicks and sideshows. :mysmilie_59:

The question is: where will the ex-bid cum ex-Ideal lot go to if it all goes belly up? They won’t find a similar sanctuary at QVC, and I don’t think there are enough jewellery channels to sustain them. I suspect one or two of them might reappear on late night bingo/casino tele, but as for the rest, well, it could be lean times indeed. Outside the peculiar bubble that is shopping tele, I'd say their options were very limited.

I hope it doesn't go belly up but I'm sure it will. There's a glaringly obvious desperation to it, they doth do protest too much with the '16 years on air' mantra, we've heard it all before and we know where!

This is surely last chance saloon for most of the presenters in terms of a telly career but if I'm honest I don't really care about the hosts, it's anyone in the normal supply chain where my sympathy would lie but the retail market has changed beyond all recognition. Sometimes you just have to accept that certain ways of selling are just far too out of kilter with enough people to be able to make it successful now.

I think Ideal World is in that category, I don't think QVC in its current guise will be around long term either. I suspect the live Selly Telly model is not sustainable long term.

I think the likes of JML and Thane will be around for a good while yet though because they make their own products, sell them on their own (not live) TV channels but also via other TV services and sales channels like the dreaded High Street :mysmilie_59:

I wonder about the future of ALL the selly telly channels. TJC have diversified into clothes, housewares, beauty products, etc. because they obviously couldn't make it selling jewellery alone, there are loads of changes over at Gemporia (and I can't help thinking they've made a mistake with this new channel The Diamond Room, as it seems slow and laboured to me, and I wonder who is buying these high-priced diamonds?). Q - well, don't get me started on Q; they are definitely stuck in the 1990's timewarp and with their astronomical p & p on individual items. IW is full of the lowest elements from Bid, and with only about 5 products being rotated continually, unless you buy from the web. I would not be at all surprised to find it's not just IW on the skids, as the shopping tv boom seems to have passed it's sell-by.

Talking other channels rocksandco, what's the point of selling 1 or 2 pieces of jewellery it's pathetic. You might aswell have a shop not a shopping channel ms debbie cavill.
Fabulous Fashion really this should have been binned for today. Your doing things for the home and still doing fashion. No point for having a webshop if they are going allocate web baskets to the phone line baskets, why is there not separate stock for the phones and the web ? This channel is going down the rapidly.

I can't stand QVC but for totally different reasons to my criticisms of Ideal World, the hosts and guests are every bit as dreadful though. Three is no more vulgar Selly Telly goon than the shocking Debbie Flint, that is an unpleasant person yo watch.

It's just a complete load of bull, it's disingenuous but in different ways to Ideal. But my main gripe is the prices, it's a joke but like Ideal it probably only works because of EasyPay.

I'm convinced if neither channel offered installments they would have both gone bust long ago.

I'm not so sure these installment schemes should even be allowed, I think they should be forced to offer proper credit terms with a proper credit agreement and be more responsible in their lending practices.

It's merely a tool to allow them to often shill well overpriced merchandise to people who may well struggle yo obtain real 'credit' on the High Street :mysmilie_59:

Is anyone watching now with Dirty Peter and Peter Vol Au Vacuum Vent?

This is atrocious, it's like a really, really amateur version of the appalling Noel's House Party in the mid 90's.

It's utterly inexplicable, I wouldn't say it's surreal as that suggests it has some kind of left field, creative angle. It's just shat, with the music?

I might sound like a broken record but this is Bid, it is not Ideal World :mysmilie_59:

Must have missed the worst (best?) bits but did see them trying to sell a succession of £20 (+postage) items ("Two tenners plus the P&P") with a double whiff of desperation. A vacuum cleaner which looked as if it belonged on a market stall, a motorised carpet cleaner that looked complete rubbish, a steam cleaner (perhaps the only product worth having out of all of them) plus a Hoover window cleaner. With this, Ideal World has now properly sunk to the low that was Bid TV, and I cannot foresee them surviving much longer than a year if they keep this up. Gollum may be able to get another job as a loud-mouthed double glazing salesman (much more his level) but Peter Simon's days will be well and truly over.

Though as others have said, QVC isn't much better nowadays with their bizarre enthusiasm for items that appear to be Dragons' Den rejects plus some truly awful presenters as well.

That's exactly what I was referring to.

It was toe curlingly bad, painful to see really. Ideal had a long tradition of having it's silly moments from way back with people like Paul Lavers smd Steve Whatley but that little performance was, as you said, desperation and some :mysmilie_59:
