I can see her, Flinty & Knuckles Kramer on stalls; they would all be wearing mittens, woolly hats & padded coats & shouting at the top of their voices trying to out do each other. I love markets, shop at quite a few & have had excellent service from everyone. The three named above would lower the one of any retail outlet, she wrote in a judgemental way!Is she in the studio, or shouting from a market stall

Thanks for the replies. I know there are many terrific markets in England (some of my family are English, the rest Italian and Maltese) but up here they are very spar e, and absolutely non where I live.
I remember visits to markets which I based my opinions on. Great bargains to be had, as well as a bit of humour!

We regularly visit Bury market which pre lockdown was great. Lots of stalls and a great atmosphere and it sells everything from a needle to a sofa. There`s an inside market hall along with the large outside market and a special meat and fish section which is in its own little building.
Well a couple of days ago I bought some things from my catalogue. An apple watch which I don't have to pay for until August, but am free to pay it off in as many dribs and drabs I like before that to avoid any interest. I also bought a little tray table as I've no room for a permanent bedside table my side of the bed and I'm sick of having stuff on the floor I have to reach down for or have things that I'll potentially knock over. It cost £26 and the tray just sits on top of the folding base..it's really good quality wood and stores under the bed when not in use..and bought a pair of sheepskin lined slippers for Oh for xmas, they weren't cheap but they weren't ridiculously priced either..Good brand (Timberland) and £3.99 flat rate delivery charge, everything came within a couple of days too. Could've collected it all for free but couldn't be bothered.but beats the hell out of shopping with QVC. I've found with the gift mate bags that most things will go in if laid on their sides which is ok, but not necessarily that convenient when it comes to transportation..but hey ho!

Well. how can I admit this, but I've just bought the 5 mini-torches from QVC.
Without PP they are less than £3 each at Black Friday price of £14-98 (were £19 so £4-02 off).
But then add £3-95 PP (a real ripoff) but at least that is a bit less than the saving.
Not such a bargain with the PP added at £3-79 each, but I do have a use for a few myself to carry in my pockets, plus some stocking fillers. And on 2 EP as well!
They do seem very good, even allowing for the hype.

Me and Mr V don`t buy Christmas gifts for each other but we both have birthdays during the festive season so we do buy each other something for our birthdays.
When I first met him and we decided to book our first holiday together I bought him a leather holdall for his birthday so he could use it as hand luggage. Over 12 years, 10 of which we`ve been married, that holdall has been used many times for holidays, weekends away, hospital stays and so on. Sadly the zip broke on it during our last holiday in 2019 and even though he took it to a specialist leather shop which makes motorbike leathers and they put in a new zip, it`s never been the same and its a struggle to fasten it.
Osprey of London had a lovely leather weekender bag which in their black friday sale has been reduced from £365 to £139 so I`ve ordered him that. He`ll probably scowl at me for spending so much, he`s also got a bottle of the Chanel smellies he loves which I bought ages ago but I know he`ll get plenty of use out of the bag when we can eventually travel again.

Is anyone finding deliveries from other people very slow at present? Companies I have dealt with in the past who are always very quick are taking about 10 days. An eBay purchase due last week hasn’t arrived (I never mind if I have free postage but having paid the full rate I’m a bit miffed ). I know it is BF and Christmas but none of the items really fall into these categories.

If this year has taught us anything it's to seize the moment & enjoy every bit of happiness. The Osprey bag is a fantastic bargain & he'll enjoy using it away when the planes take off again. From what you've said about him any scowl will just be a fleeting one.
No, I've been really lucky, 2 items I ordered from my catalogue turned up the very next day, the gift bags from Q less than a week...and what's been great is not having to reschedule deliveries or go and queue at the post of office depot but I think that's more down to furlough/semi retirement! I'll never forget ordering a football dvd for my son as a stocking filler and coming home from work to find a "we missed you card" through the door. Next day I queued up in the cold and rain for ages wondering why on earth it didn't fit through the letter box to find they'd attached a small free gift.. a deflated miniature football that was no good to anyone over the age of 2 and would need a pump anyway. That's why it wouldn't got through the letter box..I was really cheesed off!
Bryan would have taken that football off your hands, I've even got a pump! He loves football and he's almost as good as Franck Sauzee and if you know who he is you must be from France or Edinburgh (the Green side)

I had a delivery Friday, and I was able to follow the delivery on a map (DPD).
It showed my house, and the smiling face of the van driver wherever he was at the time.
A bit frustrating when he went past my road and did all the other roads on the estate (there is only one entrance road in and out) and came to me on the way back just before leaving the estate.
It was supposed to arrive between 4pm and 5pm, and arrived at 4-30pm, so could not have been more accurate.

I've bought quite a few Black Friday items, couldn't resist them (all gadgets/electronics) but I had been actually actively looking for some of the items well before BF. Nothing over £20 though.
One item was wireless ear buds, was initially tempted by the QVC ones almost £45 plus a ridiculous £4-95 PP for a lightweight pocket-size item.

But got one for £7-50 with FREE PP.
Some of them cost £100's and I doubt they are worth that, so I am taking a gamble on a cheapie one, but returns are free.

I know a new bag is on its way now but try rubbing the other zip with a pencil. It often unstiffens the zips.

I`ll give that a try ILove but it`s as if the new zip has been sewn in too tightly and puckering. The old holdall won`t be wasted, I`ll find a use for it and the only reason I`m buying him a new holdall is so I know things such as his passport, his meds and his wallet can be fastened in securely when we go on holiday. Last year when the zip broke at the airport on our way home we were emptying his stuff and trying to squash it into my bag because our cases had already been checked in. I envisaged Mr V walking through duty free with his bag wide open and leaving a trail of dirty undies, socks or T shirts behind him.
