QUOTE "A quintessential British brand" BUT ...........

The brand might be British but the brand is not the product itself. VG's website neatly sidesteps the issue, saying: '...all our DAB+ radios and Bluetooth speakers are born in Britain with British designers and high quality British components'. This would not be misleading unless QVC claimed...

£2,000 for a miele tumble dryer

They will no doubt sell a few (single figures perhaps) BUT the profit margin on something costing £2k will gain them a few hundred pounds per unit. Overall it may make as much money for them as selling a much higher volume of lower priced items.

    Apple TSV 3/12/15

Agreed; if you want a MacBook buy it from either Apple or John Lewis - the 'added value' is not worth the extra money.

    Rob Locke ex QVC Presenter

I was never much of a Rob Locke fan; like a few others over the years he ultimately thought himself above presenting on a shopping channel. Nothing worn with chasing a dream but when it's clear that's not going to work it's time to be realistic. There are always jobs available, bar work...

    Cruising comes to qvc !

Completely understand your viewpoint, but it's worth bearing in mind that crew members choose to work on the ships; they aren't forced into it. Many cruisers are shocked when they realise that their cabin attendant, waiters etc aren't paid a meaningful salary and rely on tips, but it's the way...

    Apple ipad Air TSV 02/03/14

The extras aren't £180 of free software, rather "£180 worth of added accessories, including a dedicated case, a stylus, headphones, in-car charger, screen protector and download voucher.", most of which people don't need...a stylus...really? QVC has a problem regarding Apple pricing. Apple hang...

Could you tell bare faced lies to sell?

Nope, I wouldn't and couldn't tell bare faced lies to sell something. What I can and will do is present something in a positive light, while perhaps de-emphasising some of a product's or service's less favourable features; a cynic may accuse me of 'lying by omission'; so be it. Presenting on...

This guaranteed delivery for Christmas they keep mentioning.

Simple; offering 2 day delivery or better would adversely impact their profit margins. It would be interesting to know how much of QVC's profit is made from P&P...

    Remember When ........

Perhaps they aren't making the money they used to do (due to recession? more competition?) and are resorting to more hard sell techniques to try and make up the revenue? It's not likely to be their extra channels; there's minimal extra production costs and it's (relatively) inexpensive to be on...

    The Letter

It is 'no quibble/no questions asked' as long as you don't return a high proportion of your purchases. It would be a bit of a mouthful for them to explain that each time they mentioned the money-back guarantee though, and get in the way of the hard sell. It's a balancing act for QVC; the 30 day...

Where are Debbie Greenwood & Julian Ballantyne?

The costs associated with Dale's trip will be a few thousand pounds and are inconsequential to a large business such as QVC.

Where are Debbie Greenwood & Julian Ballantyne?

The leaving statements were left on their blogs for three days before the blogs were deleted. Begrudged? Possibly. QVC would no doubt have preferred to say nothing, but they chose to at least acknowledge what has occurred.

Where are Debbie Greenwood & Julian Ballantyne?

I think the 'coming soon' announcement she referenced was the QVC statement on her QVC blog a couple of days ago.

Where are Debbie Greenwood & Julian Ballantyne?

I suspect the answer is neither and that they couldn't agree new contract terms. In such cases it's really a mutual parting of the ways and neither a resignation or a sacking.

Where are Debbie Greenwood & Julian Ballantyne?

Sadly for those who prefer a little more humanity in communication this is the way businesses work these days. It's likely the parting wasn't amicable and a business' normal reaction to this would be to say nothing. If asked they might issue a terse statement, which is what has happened. At...

Where are Debbie Greenwood & Julian Ballantyne?

In general the shorter the valedictory message, the less amicable the parting; neither Debbie's or Juilan's message is particularly effusive. We may never know the background but it's now clear that (as we suspected) they, and QVC, has moved on.

    Which words/phrases would you bann?

I would ban 'considered purchase' and 'affordable'...

Where are Debbie Greenwood & Julian Ballantyne?

This is all speculation but I suspect that we have seen the last of Debbie and Julian on QVC. It could be that they are still under contract to QVC but are not being asked to work and that COULD be why Debbie's biography is still on the website. Again speculation but their contract may have a...

QVC Outlet - Now on eBay

P&P is actually free(!) and delivery is within 3 working days. Returns policy is only 14 days though rather than 30.
  20. T

do you think that the presenters have sales targets

Probably none; I would imagine that QVC accept that there will be a certain percentage of returns. It would be hard to show that returns are the presenters 'fault' for over-hyping.
