I suppose I am 'talking' to the newer folk really, although, everyone had to learn somewhere. I am NOT saying Gems of Old was the be all end all for learning about rocks and such: that'd be very naive, to say the least. I am thinking about the Gems of Old though. But assuming you did 'pick stuff up' through watching (not necessarily buying) the channel and it's offspring, did it have a bearing on your future purchases. Aka, did it help you pick the crap from the better?
When I first started buying jewellery, it was off ebay. A lot of it, tat. But there are some good buys too. Since watching the channels I have been a bit less gullible with my purchases. Even to the simplest of things as touching 'beads' etc that look like stones in shops to see if they are real and not plastic or whatever.
