Created for astronauts - developed by NASA in the 1970s to cushion and support astronauts during lift-off, Tempur’s founders took that original NASA invention and spent years perfecting it into the TEMPUR material. The Tempur material helps to distribute weight and pressure evenly. Today, Tempur material lies at the core of all their mattresses and pillows and was given special recognition by NASA in 1998 for achievements in technology transfer and certified by the Space Foundation.

New launch - a new addition to Tempur's range this year, the Prima Pillow caters to all types of sleepers with its medium feel. It's made from specifically developed, authentic Tempur materials, the filling adapting to your contours and offering optimal support for your head and neck to ensure a blissful night's sleep.

Has anyone got one of these pillows? I am in the market for a new one, I’m a side sleeper and wake every morning with neck and shoulder ache. I know I need something more supportive but good pillows are a considered purchase and I don’t want to make a costly mistake.

My ex has a Tempur pillow, although it’s not this one as the BA said this was their latest “model.” He recommended the Tempur pillow to me ages ago but I nearly passed out when he said what it had cost him. 😳

I currently sleep on a memory foam pillow that was £20 from Dunhelm but, in view of his recommendation for the brand, I’ve ordered the TSV.

At least if anyone buys it and finds that it isn’t suitable it can be returned to QVC.

I used to have a Dunlopillo pillow which was very supportive and lasted years. Wasn’t cheap though. Was solid foam but indented like an egg box. Would buy another one but they’re out of my price range these days

Re my remark about it being filled with bits of foam, someone has aked that - - -

Q: What is it filled with? Chopped up bits of memory foam?

And a completely meaningless answer (probably on purpose) - --

composition PRIMA Filling: - TEMPUR Adapt™ Material Sleeve: - Low-grade standard visco-elastic foam

Also, I was sure they said you could wash the pillow so I asked - - -

How long does it take to air dry after washing?

Answer - - -

Only the cover is washable not the pillow.

If I don’t get on with it, I’ll return it and, because there’s no P&P, I’ll ring CS and ask for a returns label. It doesn’t bother me that it’s a made for QVC item but if it’s good, I’ll keep it.

Tempur’s prima pillow is similar and contains the same type of filling so the only difference is the “all positions” bit.

I searched for Prima pillow on the Tempur website and it had no results.

Then I contacted them, as above, to find out why.

I looked for a Tempur prima pillow on Google and this is one of a few that I found. It’s not the same as the QVC one, as I said before, because it hasn’t got “all sleeping positions” in the heading but in the description it suggests that it’s filled with the same as the QVC one.

The price in the photo is the 4p more than price that the QVC one will be when the TSV is over.

Apparently Benson Beds also sells them.

£79-99 there.

Was your pic from Bensons?

We sleep very comfortably on GX pillows from Ideal World but again not cheap. A choice of medium soft or medium firm.

That just takes you to a dead page so go to the IW site and search for GX pillows.

I am using a pillow from QVC, it was very reasonably priced and described by them as "over-stuffed" or something like that. Had it a few years and the most comfortable I've ever had. It is not memory foam.

I've slept on a very expensive Tempur mattress and didn't get on with it. But I have a Tempur travel pillow, worth about £80, but given free by going into a bed showroom and trying some Tempur beds. That is very comfortable, I use it on my armchair every day, behind my neck. It is proper solid memory foam.

I suffer with severe neck pain and have for decades.
In that time I think I’ve tried every type of pillow known to man! So it’s a bit of a specialist subject… 😉

I’ve also slept with no pillow at all for a while! Just a hand towel. Okay if you lie on your back but not recommended!

Many moons ago I tried a memory foam one (moulded) which I loathed and made my neck worse.

A few years later I was very kindly bought a proper Tempur one (filled) which I also hated!
For me and on advice of physio, I find down (or down and feather) is best.

It’s mouldable so you can shape it to your neck/shoulder and it has loft.
They say the width of your pillow(s) when squished, should be the width between your shoulder and neck if you’re on your side to give support.

Personally I use a thin flattish feather
mix pillow as a “base”; with a light and lofty pure down pillow on top.
Lot of “down” pillows, esp medium and firm options, often have an inner chamber of more solid feather surrounded by down which may suit others better…

I have allergies and as long as it’s quality and the down/feather has been well cleaned etc, it doesn’t bother me at all.

Wool is another natural option which is much more ‘solid’…

Diamond Bedding does really reasonable pure goose down pillows - and duvets and toppers - if you’re interested!

Previously bought John Lewis but prices have gone up a lot…
Sorry to waffle!

Good luck to those who bought tempur I know some people love them, I am a specialist case!!
