Hi Lp, the colours for sale last year and the ones I bought were grey and dark indigo, I haven’t tried these new colours yet, but the dark indigo (and they are dark) and the grey have kept their colour well and I’ve washed them loads of times. :mysmilie_3:

Thanks Shopper, ordered black and a Hot Cloth Cleanser, hubby ordered 2 lots of the socks.

Aw you’re welcome Lp, let’s know what you think xx

I think they are doing three items of Caviar in this special buys, shame there are no reviews to read

https://www.aldi.co.uk/search?text=caviar&category=specialbuys

and currently a choice of six Caviar on the website

https://www.aldi.co.uk/search?text=caviar&category=ALL

Oooh thanks Marina, I love their Caviar range I do. :mysmilie_3:

Very tempted to try the Jeggings, but I have lost 2 stone since January and have another 2.5 to lose, so I don't really want to buy any more stuff until I have a better idea what size my body is going to settle at!
I'm currently rocking a lovely pair of size 16 Per Una jeans, which fit beautifully! (factory seconds bought half price from eBay)
If you'd told me at Christmas I'd be wearing size 16 jeans by March, I'd have laughed in your face :mysmilie_19: But I'm doing the 'T2 diabetes reversal' diet, and it's coming off fast.

That’s absolutely brilliant, well done!! I’m so pleased for you (and jealous for me. :mysmilie_17:) I need to lose at least stone, I should try harder really, but that’s great PAL. If you’re not sure then leave it, if you really wanted to buy a pair though, get a size twelve, they’ll stretch to a size fourteen while giving you an incentive to lose the extra weight. But to be honest, doesn’t sound like you need any incentive, you’re doing great xx. :mysmilie_3:

That's brilliant Pick-a-Lily, congrats!
Is this a book 'T2 diabetes reversal'?

Thank you Marina. No, the book I am using is The Obesity Code by Jason Fung, it is excellent. Very informative and a very easy read - I got the kindle version.
I am following the principles outlined in this book, doing Intermmittent Fasting on alternate days, under the supervision of my GP. I went yesterday for a follow up, and he nearly fell off his chair when he saw how much weight I have lost since I started on 7th January. My most recent blood tests are all greatly improved and I should be well out of the danger zone within another 6 weeks or so, although I still have 16kg to lose!

Well done PAL, it does give you a boost when you lose weight. I am considering the leggings. Don't anyone buy Joe Browns leggings (and I'm a big JB fan of most of their things), they are rubbish material and you need legs the length of Runway 3 at Heathrow to wear them. They cost a packet too.

I had a little look on youtube and from what I gathered it may be similar to Michael Mosley work (the author of the 5:2 diet) - very low carbs, restricted calories (800 a day) and intermittent fasting. I have tried the low carb bit but without reducing the calories it's not really working for me. I have also noticed that both systems include apple cider vinegar.

Dr Mosley recommends eating twice a day within a 6 hour window, and calorie reduction.
Dr Fung doesn’t recommend calorie reduction because it slows down the metabolism. Instead, he recommends fasting for extended periods of time, to normalise insulin levels. Fasting, in contrast to reducing calories, doesn’t slow down metabolism. It’s all explained clearly in the book I mentioned. Dr Mosley only worked for me up to a point, but the 18:6 regime was good practice, and as soon as I switched to proper fasting, the weight started to fall off quickly.
The principle is that Diabetes is caused by obesity, and obesity is caused by too much insulin in the bloodstream. Insulin is a fat storage hormone. Therefore, we need to normalise the insulin level, and force our body use up our own stored fat. Fasting does both of these things and doesn't alter the metabolism.

I fast from after my evening meal, through the next two days until the next evening meal. So roughly 48 hours at a time. My longest fast so far was 60 hours. I prefer to do the 48 hours alternate days. Depending on how much weight you have to lose you can fast for shorter or longer periods of time. Many people fast for 7 full days - not me though!
It’s surprisingly easy, especially if you can keep yourself busy, very flexible, and I would recommend the book to anyone who has a lot of weight to lose, or is newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

18:6 is 'modified fasting', or more correctly 'Time Restricted Eating', and is more for maintenance of weight loss once you reach your target weight.

Dr Jason Fung is a Canadian consultant kidney specialist who became interested in dietary management due to the large number of obese diabetes patients referred to him with kidney disease - which is just one of the long term effects of what is now proven to be a preventable and reversible disease. Unfortunately, until now, conventional dietary advice and medical interventions have contributed largely to the worsening of the disease, and in the book Dr Fung explains this very well.

He has also written a couple of other books, one is Diabetes specific and I found it much more technical and less easy to read, and the other is called The Complete Guide to Fasting.
Hope I have explained this well? I have edited several times for clarity, but it is complicated and if anyone is interested I can only recommend you read the book - it may save your life!

It's an excellent summary and comparison of the two systems, thank you for your time and efforts Pick-a-Lily!
I used to fast years ago by Paul Bragg. Put a bit of weight in the last couple of years but not that much just a bit overweight, might have to try this approach again.
My friend used to tell me I'd do more harm than good to my health by depriving myself of nutrients and I thought it made sense at the time

It's a common response Marina! Most people switch off as soon as you say the word 'fast'. 'Oh, I could never do that!'. And others come up with all kinds of starvation theories as to why it's not good for you. Actually, fasting has been practised for thousands of years, as a healing mechanism, to lose weight, and for various cultural and religious reasons. It's the most rigorously tested of all weight loss plans, it's cheap, convenient, liberating, - and it works.
I was given a stark choice. Type 2 diabetes, medication and twenty years of misery and declining health, followed by an early death - as happened to my mum. A very low calorie prescribed diet of shake type meal replacements. Or do the low carb, healthy fat option with intermittent extended fasting. I can only say it was the obvious choice for me, it fits my lifestyle, I get to eat real food, I can still go out for a meal with friends, and the results cannot be denied.

The material is not thin or flimsy so you don’t get any cellulite showing and they’re very well fitting so no crinkles or wrinkles, all I can suggest is give them a go, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised xx

Will they make my bum look big?

Will they make my bum look big?

No they won’t make your bum look big, unless it is big of course (they’re not magic Jeggings :mysmilie_17:

Joking aside, mine gently hold me in, not tight that they cut off the circulation but nice and comfortable, shame they don’t make your bum look big though, I’ve hardly got one.

Went to get some jeggins after work today, as from the date on the website I assumed they were launching on Thursday. No jeggins today. Asked for the store leaflet. No leaflets. So I assume (again) they are going to launch on Sunday when I'm going to be galloping to the store to see if they have some 'jo malone' staff.

I ordered the jeggings, some hot cloth cleanser and hubby 2 lots of socks. Been despatched, we order online as our local doesn't always have anything we want in stock. Isn't there anything you can order that will come up to £20 for free delivery?

I probably could, but because it's a courier delivery, I'd have to give the work address which I try not to if I can :mysmilie_17:

The jeggings did launch today Marina, I seen them in store today, maybe they sold out because they’re very popular, like Lp I order on line too even though I’ve got an Aldi two minutes walk away, fingers crossed you end up getting what you want.
