V, I think if there was even the slightest hint of Covid being aboard any of the current cruise liners (all have undergone thorough deep cleaning as is the case if Novovirus gets aboard), then I'm sure the media would have been all over it.
For my November cruise I have never had so much paperwork to fill in. All pertaining to Covid testing beforehand, and having the necessary vaccine certificates, as well as having written travel insurance to produce. So short of us all wearing hazmat suits on board then its now down to the passengers to be 'sensible'. I certainly wont be whispering in anyone's ear or getting up close and personal with strangers - I don't anyway, but personal space will be my priority.
I'm a member of several cruise groups on FB having been on the P&O Iona to Norway in May. Both the boat and food were amazing and Norwegian fjords even better! Covid was present then on the ship and people were isolated on board in designated cabins. This got worse throughout June and July with more cases on board and people testing positive on their return home. Some restaurants (mainly specialist ones) have also had to close due to staff shortages due to Covid. This was on most cruiselines but there are fewer reports now. In June testing before boarding was still required but I think several cruise lines stopped this in July. The problem is that people can still test negative when they're positive and also of course can pick it up in between testing and boarding as well as when out and about on excursions.

Now it's relying on people being truthful when self testing as is the case now with P&O.
People will say they have tested when they haven't and ,/ or will say they are negative when they are positive.

I must have one of those faces but if I’m in a queue the person next to me always starts up a conversation and it unbelievable how much personal stuff they tell you in the short time you are with them.
That is me also.

I remember some years back going down Ann Street in Belfast and a woman came behind me. Just walked on, and she kept behind me, finally turned around, and she wanted to know how to get to Boots? She told me she stopped me as I have a friendly face! o_O

I quite fancy a cruise. Myself and a friend had a Caribbean cruise planned but she had a crisis and couldn’t go.Since hubby died I’ve looked at a few lone cruises so it’s good to see it discussed here.
I’m not into embellishments but for a cruise I would make an effort.
I bought an Artscape top without realising it was sprinkled with sequins . Q don’t give the true description of clothes much of the time. It went to the charity shop,

Turandot, it was only after my husband died that I bit the bullet. It takes courage, but I took the attitude that if I didn't do it then no-one would come knocking at the door to do it for me, so off I went.

I would say that with all the energy prices, it could be that cruise prices may rocket for next years trips, so if there's the opportunity then book early.

Ah yes, the good old book/newspaper/iPad - anything to use as a distraction for the single woman waiting on her own. I know what you mean Mutty, as probably thousands of other women do. I generally take a whole batch of mags with me, so even if I sit alone at the buffet I don't have to sit gazing around when I'm eating. Bit different in the waiter restaurant (I normally book the table with the greatest number of people) as there is always someone to talk to.
I've even got a little fold up stand for my Kindle and tons of great books on it, once I get engrossed I don't notice the rest of the world unless I want to people watch.
