Thanks Autumn.
Are those tealights really just wrapped in cellophane? If so, I'm out.
Prices' TSV's get worse every year IMO. I was really looking forward to this one as well.

Obviously I'll wait to see a presentation before I totally make my mind up though.
Mr M DF is presenting the launch.snd has said they are great stocking fillers,I won't be watching .

I might go for these, (all for me, not splitting for presents) Debbie doesn't bother me. Spending time with the outlaws over the past 20 odd years has given me a very high BS tolerance!

I may have to have a little look and just hope she's not in market stall mode! I bought a small Simply Home YC (£9, size is more like the medium in the normal range) in spiced apple pot pourri earlier and it's fab! Great throw across my large lounge. I may start testing some cheaper brands than YC. It's easy to get sucked in and ignore alternatives. Am happy to try Prices :)

They have one on 29 October. I bet it will be the same sort of thing as the previous ones as they are very popular. Mind you I got the first one they did and found them very disappointing, no lasting smell whatsoever but I think that we each have different smell buds, ie the equivalent to taste buds but for sense of smell!!!!!!!! Hence the differing views on YC too.

Have to agree with you there. I still have some of that set in the shed as they were awful.

Thanks for the advanced details Ian, I'll probably get these. I have a floor-standing thingamy for tealights, although we can't use the lowest level because our house-rabbit pinches the tealights from them (unlit) he particularly likes the empty cases which he runs off with and hides under the dining table!

I like the fact that the glass tumblers are plain without a brand label or logo.

Oooo, I like how these candles have colour this year (they were all cream coloured last year).

I've just bought the Q4 YC Scented Beads & I've just received my AD of the Grandma's Kitchen YCs too, so I might have to give this one a miss :(

I`ve just returned from my local TK Maxx and they had a shelf full of Prices stuff. The individually boxed candles were £3.99 each.

I must say I browsed the Prices stuff in TK Maxx but then I went next door into Sainsbury and their Christmas TU range of candles, reed diffusers, tea lights , holders etc etc is lovely. There`s some gorgeous smells and some lovely packagaing.

So can anyone recommend a good high street/supermarket brand of candles that give a good throw?

I have some votives from The White Company which are excellent, but they are expensive. The small Simply Home Yankee I bought is as good as any Yankee large jar. I want to explore cheaper alternatives. I'm also disappointed with the xmas smells, they seem to be mostly fantasy fragrances. I want cinnamon and cloves and all things warm and spicy!!

Have you tried these before? I may pick up something small to give it a whirl.

Have you a b and m close? They do some nice home esscence candles at £3.99 or 2 for £7.

Oh I really miss B&M, I used to go to the original shop in Cleveleys when I lived in Blackpool. There's nothing similar down here on the South coast.
