Yes enjoy the Gardening Shows. I know people are negative about his Flower Power but you can really see a difference after using it.

flower power is second to miracle gro and i wont go into the price difference. fp is very very expensive

I think RJ has an 'image' problem. If he was tall, and with a voice like Mr Aurora then I'd be glued to the set (shallow I know) and be buying every product he endorsed. Sadly Richard looks like an extra from 7 Brides for 7 Brothers with his check shirts and Daddy jeans - I know its not his fault he's challenged in the height department, but he does tend to look like a spare part on his own shows.

Gosh really?! It does and would make no difference to me what he looks like or how tall he is (I mean I may enjoy watching more if he were attractive to me physically but it certainly wouldn't make more inclined to spend!) but I just find his personality beyond annoying. It puts me off having the tv on and I just get wound up but the way he presents, interrupts, repeats, quotes meaningless blurb verbatim and shows endless similar photos :(
Argh I can feel him winding me up already and I'm not watching him with no plans to do so!!

I too don't believe his claims either, I have had about 3 different strawberry collections from QVC and I was lucky if I got a small bowl full. Where I have been getting what class as mini grow bags of 6 strawberry plants from a local farm shop, for the last few years and they are much better.
If you watch often enough he sounds as though he is talking from a script.

I feel the same way about him.
He is so disingenuous. I just don't believe a single word he says.

And the long standing 'joke' about the female presenter enjoying her wine.... He kept unearthing bottles that he'd hidden previously around the set.... My gosh, it was hysterical.... hmmmm

"There is actually someone on Q FB asking if there are ever any gardening shows on Q and if so when!!!!!!!!"

And saying shortly afterwards: "Can I have my hotdog now?"

Kerching! Kerching! Bouncing on balls of feet... Rubbing hands together in avaricious glee... :puke:

Not keen on RJ either, although I am interested in some of the plants they bring. I have struggled to find some of them in the 3 most local garden centres to me, and when I have seen them they have been very expensive. I know that they are often more mature in the garden centres (hence the price) but sometimes the slightly smaller and younger plants grow really well and with a bit of patience and care soon grow to spectacular plants.. and I didn't need to spend the extra money. I know I could go to specialist nurseries but they don't have the aquariums, soft play and sand pits for my children to enjoy like the garden centres do! Been propagating my own each year from seed, too which has been great fun.
By the way his slug and snail stuff has kept my Delphiniums safe for the 3rd year on the trot :)

I think most garden centres are very expensive. Both my local independent one and Dobbies have eyewatering prices on the bog standard plants and if you want anything a bit different you might as well p in the wind. I was in Dobbies today and most of the stuff was half dead due to neglect.

I have purchased from Q and have had mixed results. Plug plants total rubbish but I purchased a tree fern and it gives me a fantastic statement show every year and was reasonably priced. Last year I purchased tulips and they are currently giving a fantastic show at the front door which everyone comments on. They were 12 pink and 12 "black" (ie dark purple). The only thing I seem to remember the shape of the flowers as being different but I've lost the packaging so can't confirm.

I am very surprised to hear that about dobbies i have a large dobbies close to me in edinburgh and their plants are in super condition i would always buy from them if i could but find morrisons bedding plants excellent and cheap

I read the thread title and wondered if RJ's been taking some Viagra to make his games of pocket billiards more exciting :mysmilie_11:
