No, no, no, you can't send it back Meesh. The ring and pendant belong together.

I could take a couple of pieces off your hands - say your red diamond ring and colour change sapphire - just because I'm such a good friend! No? Oh well, it was worth a try ...:winksmilie:

Nice try Mrs! Well, if we're talking bling then I'll have your green diamond pendant!!!

Ladies (and SCW)

I've got a problem - yeah yeah yeah, not that one!

I've put the pendant on a chain and worn it for a couple of hours round the house. I was thinking that the pendant twisting was caused by the tag (which they've put on the back of the pendant, not the bale). It's not because it's twisting to both sides. I don't know how to stop it. I'm seriously fed up because I thought it was the tag but I'm pretty sure it's not now. :(

Would you keep it when it twists? If I keep it I'll have to have it re-set. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Would you send back Chubby Checker? <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D101%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/101.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D101%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

I had exactly the same problem with a trilogy diamond pendant i had made and it was because the bale was through a loop (like yours is) so the jeweller just removed the loop and made the bale a solid part of the pendant (hope that makes sense!) it was fine after that! maybe that would solve your problem, i think it should work with a heavier pendant.

I'm not sure GC. The pendant is so heavy that I think it's going to twist no matter what. I think the shape is against it because being a pear shape it's more prone to twisting in any case. Thanks for the suggestion though. One fed up and unhappy bunny here.

Please don't be fed up and unhappy i'm sure it can be put right its to beautiful to make you feel sad!
why don't you have a chat to your jeweller email him a few pictures i'm sure he'll have a few ideas.

I'd keep it anyway, Meesh... I really do think you'll regret it if you don't. Would you consider putting it on something other than a chain? I almost always wear my pendants on pearls - I have really tiny ones for the ones will small bales! - which might cure the problem. Or what about a velvet cord or ribbon?

I often find pendants are more stable on an omega 'chain' but if the rear setting is just too narrow to support the wider gem - as is often the case with pendants I see being shown on TV a design fault IMO- it may still fall to one side or the other so maybe widening the back with gold inserts, making the basket wider? Or is that as expensive and as much trouble as re-setting the gem in an entirely new setting?

If anyone can sort this, you can. I'm sure you hate the idea of sending it back, but if you won't wear it..................................

On the other hand I rarely wear most of my stuff, but I like knowing I have it and sometimes just get it out to look at, Fagin style.

Thanks for all your suggestions - the problem is that the bale articulates and then the Rubellite is so deep and the pendant heavy that I don't think there's a solution. The only thing that MIGHT work is to solder the bale so it's fixed but even so, the weight of the pendant will still make it twist I think. It actually does right itself but it twists onto the side (both sides - so I know it's not the label getting in the way).

The only other option is to have it made into a ring but (a) I don't want to spend money doing that (b) I've got a ring I love and (c) if you're going to spend nearly £600 on a piece of jewellery it should be fit for purpose without having to spend more money.

Can you see where I'm heading with this? .........................

Nooooooooooooooooooo!
Don't send it back you might live to regret it have you asked your jewellers advice?

No, I don't need to hun. Whilst I love it, I don't think I love it enough. The acid test is will I want to jump in the car and race down to Gems to retrieve it if I send it back and the answer is, I might get in the car, put my seat belt on but will then only get a mile and won't go any further!

I'm a bit late to this thread because I've been being good and keeping away from anything that tempts me to spend money just now!!

Anyway, Meeshoo I am now looking like I've just got out of my Spaceship having landed from some strange planet where everyone is GREEN!!

I am only going to say one word
