I'd actually pay to be off their Christmas card list ! I see Beckham the money grabber has his face on the cover of TV & Satellite weekly this week, as I can't bear to look at his grinning face, I've ripped it off. The family might have wealth, but certainly not class. Buying a property in the Chipping Norton area (apparently where the "in" people live) only makes them worse.

I used to go to the Good Food Show at the NEC and met a lot of TV chefs over the years. All very nice but the absolute best was Gordon Ramsey. All the chefs had timeslots for signing books, etc and as soon as the time was up they would close the line and leave even if you had bought the book. We didn’t bother queueing for Gordon as the queue was huge but we walked past later and he was still their so we asked for a picture. He had his picture taken with both of us, chatted away and then shouted a little boy over who had a chefs hat on. He then knelt on the floor to be at his level and spent ages talking to him about cooking. I know he can be awful on his programmes but he was lovely in real life.

My late father met George Michael and Andrew Ridgely at the Royal Festival Hall, I think it was the concert for the striking miners. My dad was on late shift and was just about to leave and was asked to escort them out of a different exit away from the hundreds of fans. It was fairly early in their career and he had no idea who they were. He said they were both lovely and they even offered my dad a lift home in the taxi that was waiting for them.

They’re a couple of grasping turds aren’t they?!
The daughter-in-law feud will run and run I reckon. She was born into extreme wealth and I wonder how ‘Vicky’ copes with this fact.

I used to work with a man who was an old friend of Victoria Beckham's dad. Her dad was a self made businessman and bought a Rolls Royce. My colleague told me that Victoria used to demand to be driven to school every day in it! I believe it...

In my final year at school my friend and I would bunk off at lunchtime to go to the Cavern, we would change out of our uniforms on the bus to Liverpool, and Cilla used to be there at the coat desk and was miserable and snotty even then. She was signed up with the Mersey sound and her life changed, her rise to fame always documented in the Liverpool Echo. Her mum had a stall in the indoor market and was really nice. Some say she could have done more for her mum at the end of her life, but I don't know if that was true. Paul McCartney and his brother Mike always stayed loyal to their roots but others from that Sixties era happily forgot.
Interesting comments about Cilla Black, I've heard similar things from other sources. I can't say I'm surprised, the 'I'm so friendly and down to earth' act didn't quite convince me. I think I found her a bit over the top and too good to be true.

There are quite a few examples of how kind a person George was in general and of course, his actual philanthropic deeds he did for people less fortunate fiscally than himself. Some people are just too nice and too sensitive for this world, and always struck me as one of those types himself.

Agreed, and it only came out after his death. Not like some celebs who seem to do charity work for the publicity it may bring.

Let’s not forget James Corden how rude he was to restaurant staff, never liked him ,his ego is bigger than his talent 😟
He just made things worse by issuing statements, he didn’t do anything, then he was sorry, then something about his wife, then back to not being in the wrong …. Not a bit wonder he is a big mate of the ginger whinger and the Hollywood wife.

I watched a behind the scenes tv doc about the Corinthia hotel in London and they asked the housekeeping staff for the even posher than normal rooms, which have their own butlers etc, to name their favourite guest. They immediately called out James Corden and said he was lovely to them and always polite. So it was surprising to hear about the restaurant incident.

I read about Cilla Black on that airline staff forum where they exchange stories. No one had a good word for her.

As for Phil and Holly, I laughed when they denied walking past the queue, when the tv coverage showed film of them doing exactly that. You couldnt make it up really.

Being famous clearly doesn't mean being a decent human being, more's the pity!
I can be glad for the talent and the entertainment produced by singers, comedians, actors and chefs... but presenting seems to me where arrogance, entitlement and beastly, bullying behaviour crops up the most. Are they over-compensating?

I stood a mere several feet away from Kenneth Clarke MP in the Castle Marina Sainsbury’s in Nottingham about ten years ago. He was in a 1970s sports jacket and a pair of suede Hush Puppies - nothing else. His wife was alongside him as we stood waiting for our delicatessen number to be called. I suddenly caught his gaze, just for a moment, as my eyes moved slowly away from a large German sausage under glass. He looked at me similar to as he would the soul of his Hush Puppy Jazz Stepper had he just trod in something caninely and deeply unpleasant. The delicatessen suddenly became the indelicatessen, as I wished I was somewhere else. Even the povvie shelf would have been more preferable to that desperately cold encounter by the chilled meats.
