I'm guilty of saying guys to people. To be truthful I have used it for over 20 years.

Why are my emojis all greyed out, does anyone else have this problem??

People started using the word guys to describe the lowest type of man after Guy Fawkes' role in the Gunpowder Plot. Women adopted it to describe themselves as part of their equality campaigns; at school we were encouraged to use it because it wasn't discriminatory or condescending.

Agree. Last time I looked, I wasn't a 'guy.' However, there is one BP who mentions that her products are suitable for the 'chaps.' That word sounds funny as well.

That's interesting. But why not say, "Hello people," instead of, "Hi guys?" Is that too pedantic ?
