What horrible and very sad news - as Sue has said this horrible disease affect so many however the survival rate is increasing all the time. I'm crying here - i hope Alison reads this thread and knows all us St.commers are behind her wishing her the best and a really quick recovery. Sending her much love and positive thoughts Love LindaXX

I am really sorry to hear about Alison - really dreadful news, but hope she makes full recovery soon. Thank goodness it was found so soon and treatment started already A difficult time for her and her family.

So sorry to hear this and sending Alison and her family much love xxx Like Liz I can't recommend the breast cancer care forum enough - I don't post on there anymore as I am trying to move on but posted daily for a couple of years and found the support amazing...

A cancer diagnosis is by no means doom and gloom these days. I've been taking my Dad for radiotherapy recently to the Christie Hospital (a specialist cancer hospital in Manchester) and it's like walking into another world. Everyone is so incredibly friendly and positive (all in the same boat I guess) and it really is inspirational. Best of luck to Alison and her family. x

Terrible news. I wish her a full and speedy recovery.

Cancer is indiscriminate.

It's one of the things that annoys me in life, I read daily about these footballers, 'celebs' etc earning thousands upon thousands of pounds each week for doing what???? - these scientists who devote so much time and effort into trying to find cures possibly earn less than a tenth of that. I wish society would wake up and smell the reality.

I noticed you hadn't been on for a while but am delighted to hear you are trying to move on and hope you thrive and get plenty of good health ! I've met a couple of ladies from there and we meet regularly for lunch, coffee and/or a lot of laughs.

I have to say that whenever I go to the hospitals (not the Christie though) for treatment, all the staff from the helpers to the consultants have been lovely and it's not all gloom and doom by any means. The nurses in the oncology department where I had chemo and now go once a month for a drugs are such a laugh and are always sensitive to those who are obviously terrified. I've always had the outlook of getting on with the treatment and hoping for the best - personally I can't be cured but plan to be around for as long as possible until they run out of treatments!!!!!

Again, best wishes to Alison and family and friends x

Our thoughts are with you Alison, just wishing you and your family the strength to get you through a very difficult time.

Just wanted to add my very best wishes to Alison for a speedy full recovery. I'm so glad that she seems to have been treated swiftly. She sounds absolutely marvellous, considering.

Aw, thats sad news. I thought she sounded very positive on her blog and not remotely sorry for herself, which of course she has every right to feel. I don't know if she reads the forum but I wish her a very speedy recovery and I will never again moan when she interrupts a guest! Hurry back, Alison! Best wishes.
