Rachel Allen

Is she going to present HER stuff herself or is some-one going to keep doing it for her?

Why is she on when they have another presenter doing all the work and Catherine Huntley on as well.

Very poor show from a TV Chef. At the very least she should do the demonstrations herself.

Totally agree. My thought process was 1) err, what a big, oversized 1980's blender in the most proing colours 2) whay isn't the chef talking more - is she nevervous? 3) err, why do we have a third presenter? Can't the chef do her own presentations?

It was all a bit dull for me. The products are ugly and ordinary, and I would have considered them differently if Rachel spoke more and did the demonstrations herself. To be honest is showed clearly that RA was endorsing the group of products rather than owning them herself.

Does anyone remember Silvena Rowe doing the Buccleuch presentations? I thought she was good. (I did not buy any meat as I managed to sample a distinctly average Buccleuch burger in a pub in Chiswick.)

I cannot overcome my admittedly irrational reaction to anyone of the Allen family. I cannot find any circumstances that justify her Father in Law's "hobby" and the family united and stood by him while the judge made a mockery of the law and the word justice by more or less saying it's ok to indulge in what Tim Allen did if you're socially important. Sentiments about loving the sinner while hating the sin are normally ok with me but not this time. I realise Rachel has nothing to apologise for and has never done anything wrong but as I said the family's united support just sickened me.

Completely agree with all you said there,Vampy.
I used to think Darina Allen was fabulous until the 'Standing By My Man' incident a few years ago.She had a cookery show on RTE a year or so after the 'incident' & I phoned RTE to complain though it fell on deaf ears.
I do like Rachel though & was actually watching her on RTE this evening,she's a really good chef but as you say,the family's united front was disgusting.

what did he do? Is it only me who is in the dark?? The only Tim allen I know of is the American Santa Clause man who did Tool Time

I didn't watch this show - but I often think that "celebrities" don't work out on qvc - linda barker,kim & aggie,george foreman etc ......some are just a complete waste of time,others have a few runs but it never lasts or works out...

Tim Allen set up the Ballymaloe Cookery School with Darina and worked in the school as a teacher taking a particular interest in Bread Baking. This lead to him have a TV program of his own and releasing the Ballymaloe Bread Book

In January 2003, Darina Allen's husband Tim Allen pleaded guilty to possessing 977 pornographic images of children. He was caught as part of the Gardaí's Operation Amethyst which tracked internet users who paid for child pornography with credit cards. Tim Allen was sentenced to community service, placed on the sex offenders register and ordered to pay €40,000 to a children's charity. The perceived leniency of this sentence provoked a good deal of public discussion.[citation needed]

Although there was considerable sympathy at this time for Darina Allen, there was also a sense of dismay at her seemingly inadequate public responses to her husband's activities. In the aftermath of the arrest, family representatives sought to make distinctions between different 'grades' of pornography.[citation needed]

Following Tim Allen's conviction, the Ballymaloe cookery school announced that he would no longer be involved in the business.

i havea distinct dislike for women who stand by their men who are rapists and child molesters. these women are "enablers" they may not have done the crime but are guilty with their smugness.
i suppose as long as its not her children it dont really matter.

I have such mixed feelings about this that I hesitated posting but I'm glad others had the balls to tell the story. Tim Allen is Rachel Allens FIL so I don't think it's entirely fair to tar her with his sins. However as part of the extended family unit, the support shown to him by his wife etc transfers to her and I find it impossible to watch her without thinking 'how can you be there telling us about your fabulous bread knowing what went on'. It's ridiculous but I can't help it. My mother (we're Irish if it matters) thinks she's great and it always telling me to watch her programmes and I've spoken to her about how I feel about it. She seems to be able to disassociate Rachel from the rest of the story and has no problem at all watching and enjoying her programmes.
