I just could not allow myself to pay £400 for a faux Christmas tree that would spend 48 weeks a year in the loft. Sod’s law it wouldn’t work the next year.
I wouldn't allow myself to spend ÂŁ100 on a a Christmas tree. I'm probably out of touch, but I'd possibly go up to about ÂŁ60 for a faux and hope it lasted a good few years. Not as out of touch as QVC though, who think they're sellling to the "Cheshire set" but in reality they're selling to those who aspire to be and sod the expense, we'll deal with the debt later set!

I went to the Range for the first time a few weeks ago. BTW it is their HQ, and where the owner runs the chain from, so I guess it is one of his biggest stores, and he calls it his flagship store.

I was overwhelmed by its size, and the amount of Xmas lights for sale was staggering.

To be honest, I only bought 1 item, and I couldn't wait to get out of there as fast as possible. I used to like looking around shops, but these days it is "get what I want and leave" and it was so big that I couldn't even be bothered to look around.

The Cheshire Set ! Love it 😂 not forgetting the Chipping Norton Set, and the Z listers in the Essex Set (no offence to the normal residents of Essex)
I’m a normal Essex resident ! I live north of the imaginary line drawn between roughly Harlow, Basildon and Southend that separates us from the “TOWIE/Chav” bit of the county which includes parts of east and north east London.

Dunhelm have got some nice ones … just wish I had a relative who worked there and they could grab or alert when a decent sale starts .. I’m always late to the party and the locusts usually get there first lol

Just to add .. when Focus DIY was around we bought a faux massive tree for 80 quid at least 23 years ago .. it’s served us well and been a pleasure to use it .. but alas it needs a replacement now ..:
Will look in sales as quickly as I can but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️ I always get there when the dregs left but I’m determined.. good luck to anybody who does the same .. would love to hear anybody’s bargain achievements after Christmas lol

i was out today initially looking for shoes but popped into a few shops to see their Xmas dec and the offerings were beyond woeful. I was in the Range a few weeks ago and thought they weren’t bad. We have a shop a few miles away who do Christmas in the way department stores used to do back in the day but the prices reflect that, you couldn’t buy from scratch but could add a few nice bits every year.

Faux Christmas trees have always been overpriced but the ones I’ve purchased have been a bit unusual (at the time anyway) and have lasted for years, but no way £400.

Primark have taken over our old Debenhams but they aren’t opening until 16 December. I thought this was rather late to catch the Xmas jammies which seem to be one of their biggest sellers. When we were kids PJ’s and slippers were presents not a must have for Christmas Eve to mooch around watching Netflix and eating junk.

The Range have beautiful baubles lots of different colours, sizes and styles grouped by colour.

In the link I saw it looked like Abbi hairdryer...dressed as 'Bev' (Abigails party)
What the hell??! Looks like she’s been raiding the Quality Street box in Jill F’s dressing room.

I spent ÂŁ50 on a faux Christmas tree over 30 years ago and I thought that was a massive amount at the time. I still have it and it comes out every year although some of the branches have seen better days and some bits have broken off. When all the baubles and lights are on it you'd never know and despite me saying for the last few years I must replace it it is still in the loft and will be coming out again this year. My mum also has a nice faux tree and I think hers cost about ÂŁ30 from Asda or somewhere similar.

That blue shiny dress is ridiculous. What on earth does she think she looks like?

The look seems like a cross between a chorister's robes and a christmas bauble to me. It's not at all flattering.

Cant wait to get my christmas decs out I love the front room all lit up and the front garden. Brings a bit of positivity and fun to the world. Then after christmas when the decs are reduced I will get some more treats

They don’t ‘alf sell some shy…questionable items Christmas related on CVQ. Smoking Santas in 1970s red car coats, flashing Christmas fairies you wouldn’t display for fear of bringing shame on your home if you lived in a cardboard box on Regent Street. Illuminated Santa sacs..er sacks full of vile imitation gifts…A complete lack of class and taste with much of it.

They also seem to have ‘experts’ specialising in tat you would struggle to shift at an anything for 10p boot sale. That extraordinarily annoying woman from Tenko who has an electronic door knocker stuck on fast tap for a voice. The other blonde, short haired woman who seems to have been on QVC since the Bronze Age, who promotes flowery coloured CD players and tyre inflating 8-track tape machines. And that other woman who appears to be morphing into Michael Jackson from around his Billie Jean period, selling advent calendar ouija board combination games..And you have to put up with this bol..rubbish since around mid-February!

I've an idea that many people who buy this rubbish do it with an aim to fill their grandchildren with awe and to create for them unforgettable memories of glittering Christmases at Granny and Grandpa's house. It could well work. But, I can't think that any reasonable adult would buy these gegaws unless their intellect had not developed past adolescence. That being said, there are lots of tasteful decorations for adults that don't give you a migraine.
