Carole Hochman?

I just bought myself some Disney Christmas PJ's from Sainsburys for £18. Nice and fleecy and pretty ridiculous, bright red with lots of Mickeys and Donalds. I'm far too old for them but I just had to have them.

I bought two sets of Carol Hochman years ago, flowery bottoms, plain t shirts and a sort of bed jacket/cardi. I've still got them and although they've faded a bit they are still very wearable. I think they were £26 per set.

I love my granny nighties from Amazon in the winter and cotton nighties from ebay in the summer. I am looking to replace the summer ones purely because I have got fed up with them because I have had them for ages.

I can't wear PJ's or anything with sleeves in bed as I get too hot. I love the strappy type of nightwear. We only have a 4 tog quilt November to March and just a quilt cover and bedspread the rest of the time. We also have the window open all night. I still end up laid on top of the bed at some point during the night. Luckily we are both the same.

🤐😉

I don’t have the window open but in winter I only have a 1 tog duvet on the bed. As I also don’t own any PJs or nightdresses I can only assume that I’m very warm blooded. 😂

Where does one find a one tog duvet? It seems hard to even find 4togs these days..

4 or 4.5 tog are quite easy to find if you buy as part of an “all seasons” duvet (usually A 4.5 and a 9 tog - in theory you’re supposed to button the two together in very cold weather but 13.5 tog is insane!)
I rarely get above the 4.5tog even in winter and wear, well, very little else in bed ;)

But in spring summer, I graduate up to a 3tog pure cotton fill and cover, quilted duvet (from Greens of Bournemouth)... and then when it’s really bad just a flat sheet!

(Yet when I’m not in bed I tend to wear about 4 layers of clothes. Very odd!)

Anyway I had my eye on a 1 tog duvet recently so I know M&S still does them - but they are synthetic fill which I don’t really like (but cotton cover - good!).

Good reviews tho and link in case anyone is tempted tho!

I’ve got a whole wardrobe of nightwear, because of my situation, although I never wear any of it in bed!
Pyjamas usually always (used to be!) from Long Tall Sally.

Amazing fit/length and excellent quality which wears so well and not bad in a sale. Pricey if not but worth I would say?

But since they were bought out by ‘Yours’ clothing, they’ve gone all polyester and cheap looking - but not cheap in price!
Otherwise I like Next (tall) pyjamas (these seem to vary a lot these days not bought in a while!) and all-in-ones - including a couple of black velvet ones which are more lounge-wear.

Nightdresses I do like Marks esp their Modal designs - though usually off eBay and nothing recently.

For cheapo nighties, both George and Tu are good and choose viscose, or cotton.

And John Lewis and Oysho (Spanish brand linked to Mango) both good for “dressier” or cuter items but only in the sales!

If I won the lottery, I’d like to waft about in White Company pieces!

I’ve got one Carole Hochman kaftan type thing which I was given and it has worn well, it’s useful although the length is a bit dodgy on me!

Plus I bought a pair of her short sleeved, short cotton stretch t-shirt nighties (with bra “shelf”) which I bought new off eBay and I have to say the quality is really very good!
I wear more as summer dresses...

My mum was given some of her fleecey PJ sets and I think they look cheap and gave bobbled quite a bit. And I know they weren’t cheap!

Sorry, bit of a specialist subject of mine, night and lounge-wear!

Just don’t get me started on dressing gown, robes and wraps 😉

Just a care point. I have a double 1 tog duvet, and it sloshes around in the duvet cover even more than a 3 tog or 4.5 tog, as they must be sized for the bulkier tog rated duvets. If that annoys you, you might want to safety pin the duvet in place.

Good point!
It annoys me very much!
Esp because I go days without sleep. Mostly properly up but if lying there awake, any little thing can really bug me!

As it is with 4.5togs on both my double and single beds, I have to have a safety pin at the top and little duvet clips on bottom corners!

I recently looked on amazon and they do these things called duvet pins. They’re popular in America apparently, and you put them on each corner and one in middle if needed.
Quite small unobtrusive but they are (were( unavailable for UK delivery.
Will keep my eye out for them!

This is a different make to the one I wanted, but in stock and have got 3.5k reviews so obviously popular, tho a few mixed reviews.

They work using magnets and come with a special tool to apply and remove...

I’m tempted to buy them as 8 pins would do two duvets and they would be so neat if they work, but bit worried about lots of holes in expensive duvet!

Anyone know what a “duvet donut” is?! 😉

“Pinion Pins Magnetic Duvet Cover Clips and Fasteners 8 count (Clear) - Perfect as Comforter Clips and Fasteners, Quilt Clips, Decoration Hangers, Duvet Donuts, and Much More!”

I searched for duvet clips on eBay & there are various designs.

Ah yes there are tons of different styles of duvet clip out there!
Sad sack that I am, I’ve got two different types - one set were from ‘Betterware’ catalogue if you remember that?

They’re still going strong and make making the bed so much easier too. Think that’s the intended use, but I keep mine on to keep it all in place!

The pins look less obtrusive and nearer though, and wouldn’t pop off which clips can do!
